In the land of silversouls

s/t
[engl] Get in to a car with a full tank, throw yourself towards the first motorway you can find and build up miles and miles without ever looking into the rear-view mirror. That's the spirit that made Kraftwerk start up nearly fifty years ago and it looks like its where Jupiter Lion are starting, only that the motorways this Valencian trio are driving on aren't in Germany, their up there between Venus and Uranus. It's not the Milky Way but the Jupiter Lion Way, where dimensions shrink and expand and the third eye melts into a sincere hug with our chakras. The band, formed at the beginnings of 2011 by Sais (vocals, synthesizer and programming), Jose Guerrero (Bass guitar) and Gonzo In Vegas (drums) come from the legacy of German experimental music, the kind that at some point stopped looking towards the USA and Europe and started to look towards outerspace, the kind that takes music forward with nerve and sweat. Riding on a Supernova of Kraut Rock that alternatively condenses and frees energy, this fantastic first album for BCore (recorded in June 2012 by Pablo Peiró - bass guitar of Betunizer- at the Sountess Studio) has six trips full of psychedelic and hypnotic rhythms that makes the listener advance non-stop. More, more and more. Jupiter Lion don't use dirty tricks or postal epic, they do slow burning, suggestive kinematics, the kind that Stereolab or Tortoise fans enjoy when they ride the back of the Gran Turbina of Motorik. Jose (also in Betunizer, La Orquestra Ganador and other projects) and Gonzo turn their rhythms, made of constant drive, into a magic carpet from which Sais serves himself and takes us on a interplanetary trip without leaving our homes, exploring spaces inside and out. Six songs that activate all our senses and those to come, a true sensorial hurricane that promises an energetic, physical and hypnotic live performance where dancing and eye ball turning inside out are totally assured.- Format

MOTÖRHEAD
s/t
[engl] The 40th anniversary reissue of Motörhead’s seminal first album. Pressed on white vinyl with an embossed silver Motörhead logo on the cover, just like the original release, plus a fully illustrated inner bag. England’s fervent rejoinder to the MC5 and the Stooges, Motörhead’s potent brand of full-on, amphetamine- and hard liquor-fuelled rock’n’roll was openly embraced by the leading lights of the mid-1970s punk explosion in the UK. They were one of the few bands with a past to be accorded any respect at all by the Damned or the Sex Pistols, and would subsequently inspire bands such as Napalm Death, Discharge, Naked City and Metallica. Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister formed Motörhead in 1975. Rock’n’roll coursed through every fibre of his being. He was raised on 1950s rock’n’roll (Little Richard was a big favourite), played in cult 60s band the Rockin’ Vickers (with the boards manned by Who/Kinks producer Shel Talmy), worked as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix and was a member of Sam Gopal’s Dream shortly before playing bass with psychedelic space rock merchants Hawkwind. It was Lemmy who sang lead vocals on Hawkwind’s ‘Silver Machine’, a Top 3 hit in the UK in 1972. A drug bust at the Canadian border in 1975 caused the cancellation of a number of Hawkwind gigs and resulted in Lemmy’s dismissal from the band. But you can’t keep a good man down. Back in London, he formed Bastard with Pink Fairies guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. After a friend told him that Bastard wouldn’t secure many appearances on Top Of The Pops, Lemmy changed the band name to Motörhead. The name was the title of his final composition for Hawkwind – a no-holds-barred account of one wild night at the Continental Hyatt Hotel on Sunset Boulevard, which was originally released on the B-Side of their ‘Kings Of Speed’ single. After Larry Wallis left the band and Lucas Fox was fired, Lemmy and new recruits, guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil “Philthy Animal”Taylor, recorded the definitive version of the song with producer Speedy Keen. Other Motörhead anthems, including ‘White Line Fever’, ‘Keep Us On The Road’ and a blistering reading of Johnny Burnette & the Rock ‘n’ Roll Trio’s 1956 version of Tiny Bradshaw‘s ‘Train Kept A-Rollin’’, were recorded in a two-day session at Escape Studios. The album would ensure the band would have a career until Lemmy’s death in 2015. The maximum rock’n’roll of “Mötorhead” still takes no prisoners, 40 years on.- Format

PROMISE
Promise
[engl] If you're continuously searching the margins for lost artifacts of the pop pantheon, you can find your daily dose in late period exponents of pure, lean, Beatlesque early '70s power pop, Promise. Originally issued in 1980 on the Boulder, Colorado, area band's own Cumulus label, their eponymous debut is filled with melodic, beatific blasts of pure pop, replete with ringing, jangly guitars, and rollicking crunch. Co- led by singer songwriter's/guitarists Curt Mangan and Danny Mey- with aid provided by the just right rhythms of bassist Randy Jones and drummer Gary York- the group created an album with precious little allying it to the punk- inspired power pop or prescient ''New Wave'' of the time, instead choosing to hone in on a classicist pop sound highly indebted to those famous moptops from Liverpool. Abetted by the fact some of the group's members had been playing together since their teenage combo's of the mid- '60s the album carries an ''out of time'' flair across surging rockers and mournful balladry.- Format

RAMESH
Ramesh
[engl] In 1970s Tehran, the classically- trained Ramesh played the serious, quiet marquess against Googooshs langorous pop princess. Both singers made the papers every time they changed their haircuts & appeared on tv frequently. However, while Googoosh now runs a cosmetics company in Los Angeles, they say Ramesh was killed in the political turmoil of the late 70s because she was a lesbian. Nobody knows for sure. What we do know is that she was a funky queen whose rich voice sits like a fat mink coat, twirling its melancholy way around long- necked lutes, backed by flurries of frame & goblet drums. And the sleazy, Western brass, strings & synths are here too, slathered across rare singles for your shameless dancing pleasure. Welcome to the unpredictable world of pre- revolutionary Iranian pop music.- Format

Surprise, surprise
[engl] Limited reissue of the sole album by this mysterious early 70s band from Malaysia. It was featured in the last Hans Pokora ''Collector Dreams'' book, causing a big stir in the psych collecting circles, as original copies are nowhere to be found. This is a real popsike gem with ultra melodic & catchy english beatlesque vocals, totally UK Psych late sixties atmosphere featuring awesome songwriting, great studio arrangements, moody orchestrations, fuzz and wah- wah guitar and great use of electric piano, keyboards & weird analog synth- Moog which gives the album a wonderful unique vibe. A must for all people into the more melodic psych- pop sounds, think We All Together, Aerovons, Kaleidoscope UK, Fairlfield Parlour, Gary Walker & The Rain, Badfinger...no hype here, check this album right now!!!- Format

Bootboy Discotheque (14 Bovver Rock Bruisers)
[engl] if you went down the wrong alleyway, took a shortcut through the park or crossed the wrong open space after dark in the UK in the 1970s, you stood a fair chance of being accosted by someone with a big mouth, low morals and some gurning mates to impress, usually reeking of fags and cheap booze and always ready to put the boot in. And, before you could say, “sickening violence”, a short but chaotic scuffle would ensue and a winner eventually emerge, battle scarred and bruised. The boot boy was the worst kind of hooligan. There wasn’t anything you could do or say to appease him. You had the same chance as a fly caught up in a spider’s web. Zero. Your best bet was to run. His intent was always to give you, and vicariously the rest of the world, a good kicking. Thugs, long-haired louts, short-haired louts; the anti-hippy. Birds, booze, bovver and football on their criminal minds. So fasten your braces for a white knuckle-duster ride. 14 bovver rock bruisers for all of you peace-loving losers. Somebody’s going to get their head kicked in tonight... Put the boot in.- Format
