[engl] Back in April 2010, a few months after the release of their debut single ("No Sex" / "Crise boursière"), SDZ included Pierre & Bastien's "RMI" on its 10-year anniversary compilation. Later on, other songs from the band ("Démocratie" and "Déglingo") were featured on other compilations released by the label. As much as we like compilations - a genre that is not a genre and that no one seems to fully appreciate - we decided to go one step further in our support of Pierre & Bastien and to actually release an album by them. This third studio album shows the band at its best with a well-constructed set of songs. Paul Jimenes' lyrics hold nothing back but simulateneously juggle brilliantly between private and social subjects hence creating several possible levels of understanding. Dark or menacing moods chase the light and brighter ones. Once again this fight of the soul puts us, without any preciosity, at the heart of the band's life. Musically, the band is more powerful and intense as ever: guitarist Baptiste Nollet is particularly dazzling and Frédéric Trux pounds sometimes a nearly industrial rhythm to the songs. One could see in their sound derivations from bands like Wire, Wipers, Dogs, Metal Urbain or Reich Orgasm. To the sheer brutality or depraved psychedelics of some tracks respond pop-like vocal harmonies of some other ones. From the minimalist and destructive opener "Sympa" to the dark and disturbing closer "A nu", from the striking "Secret" to the light "Musique grecque", Pierre & Bastien has crafted a dense, varied and more-complex-than-it-seems album. [engl] Grade A Deutschpunk synth-trash. These four songs sound like a bull in a Korgshop. Barked German vocals, off-kilter twists and turns, it's bizarre, fun, aggressive music. Obviously made by weirdos, for weirdos. Total mongo-pogo vibes for the kids to lose whatever brain cells they have left. [engl] PISSE - new band w/ members of Rouge, Nowaves, Universum and John, Paul, George, Ringo & Richard.

[engl] Did you just hear Monokini by STEREO TOTAL for the first time, and you really like it but you're worried about keeping up punk appearances? Well worry no more, because PISSE have got you covered. These lads sound pretty much like that, all the more so because their record was recorded by Brezel Göring and Françoise Cactus lends vocals to one track. This record is super fun, mixing a playfulness that makes the songs really come alive with a willingness to experiment and make odd choices (see the dancehall track with a fantastic female toaster that kicks off the record). A lot of these songs remind me of AUSMUTEANTS if these dudes wrote good punk songs instead of boring and idiotic new wave. What lyrics I took the time to translate showed a real goofiness, but one should expect no lack of disrespect and snot from a band called PISSE (take a fucking guess what it means in English). A good record and the second best sticker I've ever gotten out of a European punk record. I'm usually disappointed by synth punk bands, but these guys have a nice melodic touch and manage to walk a fine punk line between too much poppy melody and not enough. - MRR

[engl] This Berlin gruppe is all over the map on this album. From minimalist synth punk to straight-ahead angry anarcho-punk; from the extremes of near powerviolence-level thrash (as demonstrated on “Angehem Straff”) to the doo-wop COUNTRY TEASERS/FAT WHITE FAMILY disturbed pop dirge of “Zu Viel Speed.” The amazing thing is, it all works! For all the disparate styles, the album retains a consistently wry yet bleak outlook throughout. It’s rare for cold detachment to possess this much personality. - MRR

[engl] The second album by the Dresden-based Rock'n'Roll Dogs crosses the finish line with considerable delay, but the wait was worth it: 10 songs in appreciated PISSED ONES style, unexcited 77s UK 3-chord sound without frippery. Rough riffs, relaxed vocals, dirty (street) R'nR flair. In familiar "Don't need you" scratchiness, with eaten Warhol banana on the cover. Quality beats quantity, in 25 minutes the robbery is over. Short, sharp, shocked. The Knock Out-Soundtrack of the REALLY Pissed Ones.

[engl] Reissue of the first PO vinyl longplayer from 2016. Snotty, stripped-down 77s punk'n'roll in raw format, made in Dresden. 10 snotty-simple songs (there are slight overlaps with the tape-only debut "All pissed up") between UK originals (early LURKERS, EATER, DRONES etc.) and current retro dudes like THE BRIEFS and THE STITCHES. Contains no cuddle, the band name is program: "Better than you", "Fuck the scene", „Boring". 26 minutes in a heartfelt „Fuck off!“ mode.

[engl] Philadelphia death rock/dungeon punk band Poison Ruïn consolidate their two EPs into one ten-song, self-titled album. Brained, fleshed, and recorded by Mac Kennedy, this effort is one of a personal nature. The sonic nature of the album has a human looseness, apparent like a cassette tape warbling from being wound and rewound. At times the songs sound thin and brittle, as though they are breaking apart simply by being played. The lyrics walk the same path and describe a world of cosmic horrors and environmental disaster. With their soft, eerie, medieval-hall introductions, each song transports the listener to a world of runes and swords, but staves off dorkiness with the relevance of a chewy post-punk center. Rife with sweetly stark guitar hooks and drums that flail like a death march, this self-titled LP gives off black metal at first glance. On further inspection, there is a gradation of inspirations ranging from pond-hopping blues guitar solos, heavy-handed punk drumming, gothic ambiance, and progressive song structures.

[engl] "San Felipe Es Punk" is an anomaly in the history of punk. Overlooked at the time it was released by the international scene, this object contains the essence of Mexican underground rock in a couple of songs. We are not talking the fast, urgent and political hardcore punk most people think of when Mexico pops up in a conversation. This is different, this is what people with no relation to worldwide tape trading or specialized zines thought was punk. Polo Pepo came from the 60s hippie movement, survived the government repression of the youth during the 70's and 80s, and finally found in punk the true spirit of rock and roll. Embracing punk, he developed a unique sound with all the limitations an inhabitant of a third world country had. The songs don't talk about imminent nuclear war or Reaganomics. Instead "San Felipe Es Punk" is an ode to a poor neighbourhood in North DF where a strong music scene flourished alongside gang violence, alcoholism and drug addiction.

[engl] Now the full lengh! "100% Polyester" could lead us to expect a totally synthetic composition, the truth is that this unabashedly oriented to the dance floor mutant punk with high doses of convulsive post-punk in its master formula, adds many other components to make it so exciting as sickeningly catchy, incluiding a killer stinging and addictive vocals! [engl] "The Most Brilliant Man Alive" EP is the debut release from Vincent Buchanan Simpson who usually is in bands like Kitchen People, Hideous Sun Demon and more. Eugh started as a one-man recording project beacuse of the pandemic and the idea he got from one of his bands doing an all Devo cover set where he realised he loved that kind of music.

[engl] This Berlin quartet—three fräuleins, one mustache—knock out a bevy of sharp synthpunk cuts in the more-or-less traditionalist bass + drums + guitar + synth style (as opposed to the synth + synth + synth + synth style, which has also been represented this issue). The album’s twelve tracks are mostly sung in German with the occasional English phrase strewn in there, a stylistic move of which I heartily approve. There aren’t any legit wig-flippers here, but all the songs are pretty decent, the cover’s cool, and German has enough words that kinda look like their English equivalent that if you follow along on the lyric sheet and maybe punch a few titles into Google Translate, you can kinda get the general gist of things. It reminds me a smidgen of that most recent Midnite Snaxxx album, although that album’s fucking outstanding and this one is merely good so I’m not staking my professional reputation on how well that comparison holds up for you. If nothing else, the album packaging certainly exhibits the most stylish use of insects in recent memory, and sometimes that’s sufficient. - Razorcake

[engl] Posy is a Band from Olympia, WA. Uncomfortable Noisepunk that leaves you stunning and speechless. Crusty and crunchy. Bratty and brilliant.Fresh, inventive and constantly surprising, this is heavy music done right. Ffo:Cerce, Huggy Bear, Early 90s Riot Grrrl Punk etc.

[engl] Total Punk is keeping things in Atlanta, following up GG KING's- 'Remain Intact' with PREDATOR's new album 'Spiral Unfolds.' The two bands share members including Ryan Bell who masterfully recorded both albums. Atlanta has the the best punk scene going and Predator are one of its longest running practitioners. Despite the seven years since their last full length, and vocalist Brannon Greene splitting time between Predator and his other projects, Hospice and Nag (both of which just dropped new albums), 'Spiral Unfolds' shows the band still rules the void. The wiry punk minimalism of their previous outings still intact but complemented with a bit more muscle courtesy of the interplay between the two buzzsaw guitars. Brannon's android tinged vocals occasionally giving off a Tubeway Army gone hardcore vibe. 'Spiral Unfolds' is Predator at it's peak. Hypnotic, driving, and 100% TOTAL PUNK.
