[engl] Total Punk is keeping things in Atlanta, following up GG KING's- 'Remain Intact' with PREDATOR's new album 'Spiral Unfolds.' The two bands share members including Ryan Bell who masterfully recorded both albums. Atlanta has the the best punk scene going and Predator are one of its longest running practitioners. Despite the seven years since their last full length, and vocalist Brannon Greene splitting time between Predator and his other projects, Hospice and Nag (both of which just dropped new albums), 'Spiral Unfolds' shows the band still rules the void. The wiry punk minimalism of their previous outings still intact but complemented with a bit more muscle courtesy of the interplay between the two buzzsaw guitars. Brannon's android tinged vocals occasionally giving off a Tubeway Army gone hardcore vibe. 'Spiral Unfolds' is Predator at it's peak. Hypnotic, driving, and 100% TOTAL PUNK.

[engl] Six song shooter from this awesome new band that hails from Berlin. PRETTY HURTS easily combine punk rock with noise, melody and with different layers of post hardcore. And they get away with it! These nervous half a dozen tracks sound like an angrier version of some DC Bands during the 'Revolution Summer' mixed with post-modern scandinavian noise bands. In other words, this debut ep 'Make Graves' will probably remind you of bands like Rites of Spring, Samiam and Lower. You won't find any moments of dullness on this! Originally released in october 2014 on tape, this is the first vinyl release by PRETTY HURTS and it sure as hell won't be the last… The sleeve is screenprinted.

[engl]  Their second release on Rockstar is also their first full length album and it's a big step forward. If you look up this band in your mental drawer, you'll find them somewhere between dirty Noise and raunchy Punk. This young trio from Berlin still delivers great quality noise but incorporates a little bit more melody into their songs since their last release. Awesome LP overall - 13 songs. All killer, no filler.

[engl] Primetime return with their second EP 'Going Places' on La Vida Es un Mus. A four track EP of juvenile Joie de vivre. Each of the four tracks ooze sass, nonchalance and that special ingredient - songs that demand repeat listens. Standout track is 'Pervert' which is one minute and 56 seconds of post punk perfection which would happily sit on Rough Trade's seminal 1980 compilation 'Wanna Buy a Bridge' in between Kleenex, Swell Maps and The Raincoats. You will not find something as instant and essential in 2016.

[engl] Snotty and melodic-as-fuck pop-punk from the blazing streets of Austin, TX! Members of Huff Stuff Magazine, Dude Jams!, Capitalist Kids, Wild America & more rage on with their upbeat & unique blend of lo-fi garage slop-pop-punk. Get on it cus this is totally ruling it.

[engl] Warning! This EP is full of sociopathic grooviness. "There is something so familiar and comforting about this unique 4 song EP. That guitar tone; those riffs – as if I’ve heard it before. I went through my entire tape collection. DLIMC? CCTV? Coneheads? Research Reactor Corp? Gary Supply? Gee Tee? No, but you get what I mean. It has a familiar rock air to it. As soon as I hit ‘publish’ I’ll think of who’s alter ego this is and immediately want to kick rocks for not hitting the buzzer. Either way, this “Barcelona” band called Prison Affair came ripping through my speakers in the late hours and has been on repeat ever since. It has the quick hi-hat hits and wobbly tape effects that are instantly gratifying to the senses. It’s soothing and anxiety driving. It’s dark and bouncy. It traps you like a cage and drives you mad in your four wall cell. Or maybe it’s just driving me crazy that I can’t pin down who the fuck this is. Perhaps it isn’t something I’ve heard before. This is just a new hip band from Spain and they’ve just hit the nail on the head for someone that loves 4-track recordings, middy guitar riffs, lofi bass, and tight drum beats. Prison Affair really contained me in their sound, locked me up in world, and won’t let me go. They’ll take you on a journey from processing to the wardens office and straight to their isolation cell in just under 5 minutes. Before you know it you’ll be out on the streets and ready to commit a crime, just to be arrested to get a chance to hear more from Prison Affair."

[engl] Prison Affair has the mutant Chuck Berry licks, direct-to-board guitar sound, fast closed hi-hat drumming, and over the top tape warble you want from this style, and if you buy genre records in this genre, I can’t see any reason you wouldn’t love it. If you like new punk bands, this is a no brainer; and even if you don’t, there’s a lot of cool stuff going on here if you’re willing to hear beyond the surface level. Deep, psychotic bass lines plus the most heavily dubbed synth mayhem. On the first track “Big Bottom Baby,” you get the feeling of descending into the prison of an internet tube. Addictive eggy, thrashy synth trances are here, with steady, monotonous vocals jumping through the fast-paced melodies, achieving complexity and implying layers in their sound as they mix theme songs with crazy catchy tracks. This gives them the title of the current kings of the eggy situation.

[engl] Julian Isaacs aka Auntie Pus, made a bet with his childhood friend Chris Millar (Rat Scabies of The Damned) that one of them would have a top ten record within 3 years. He of course lost that bet in less than a year as The Damned took the world by storm. Isaacs carried on with his own brand of punk and Syd Barrett inspired songs, playing with the best of the first wave of UK punk bands, and becoming frequent tour partners of bands like The Damned and The Ruts. In 1978 he finally recorded a single, featuring Rat Scabies on drums, which was eventually released with some help from the Ruts management, and did make it, not just into the top 10 in Sounds, but "Single of the Week", and top 10 in Record Mirror when the Damned were pulling the reigns that week. Since then, the single has become a staple of conversations covering under the radar 70s UK DIY punk and "messthetics" type singles. This 7" is a deluxe edition with an unreleased track, artwork faithful to the original, with an accompanying insert that includes an in depth interview which should be fascinating to any fan of 70s UK punk, or fans of the Damned, plus photos, and more.

[engl] The band shares members between Vancouver, Canada, and Ciudad de Mexico. Despite the distance and borders between them, Pura Manía breaks through with their signature brand of upbeat, anthemic punk, picking up right where their previous LP left off. Three new singalong songs taking influence from 80s punk from Spain to Rikk Agnew's "All By Myself" 12" as well as classic Oi!, and a curveball Screamers cover that the band manages to make their own. [engl] Beat Generation presents a reissue of Pure Hell sole full-length album, recorded in 1978 but not released until 2006. In 1974, on the streets of Philadelphia, a band unlike any other was formed. They called themselves Pretty Poison. They had a sound so ahead of its time that the music industry was not yet ready for it. They coupled the punk sound of the New York bands of the time with a harder, faster heavy metal edge unheard before. Their unique sound was a result of Kenny Gordon's berserk choreography and Preston Morris's needling guitar riffs, while Steel and Spider added synchronized barrage with no nonsense execution to the arsenal. Inspired by the famous fuel-altered dragster, they changed their name to Pure Hell in 1975. Soon after, they moved to New York City where they played with bands like the New York Dolls, Sid Vicious, Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, The Dead Boys, The Stimulators, Richard Hell, The Germs, The Nuns, The Cramps and more. In 1978 Pure Hell headlined a tour of the UK, with bands like the UK Subs, Wilko Johnson, Vermilion & the Aces and more opening for them. While in the UK, their only original record was released. It was a single released by their manager Curtis Knight on his label, Golden Sphinx Records. The songs on the single were "These Boots Were Made for Walking" and "No Rules." The single charted in the top 40 charts in the UK. During the same year, a full length album was recorded but was never released. It did not surface again for 28 years.

[engl] Erupting onto the New York punk scene, Brooklyn based band Pyrex have made waves after releasing a handful of well-received singles and tapes and touring the US generating significant buzz. At long last, the group is releasing their highly anticipated debut LP "PYREX". The LP delivers driving, scrappy hardcore-leaning post-punk that sounds like a mix between a lost KBD artifact and an Eastern European post-punk unknown. This LP explores dystopic and nihilistic themes both lyrically and musically packaged in no-brainer high energy punk. Pyrex delivers distorted, angular and heavily entwined bass and guitar hooks strengthened by linear, pummeling drums with raw, aggressive vocals. The trio have created an LP that is equally unchained and artful. "PYREX" is a wholly well-crafted, frenetic, dialed-in, oven-safe, microwavable, and collectable modern punk record with infinite playability.

[engl] Did somebody say stoner rock? Well, here‘s a new band from our buddies in Cologne who managed to do some mischief with SE SICHELZECKEN. This new record however is an 8 song monster and has nothing in common with the aforementioned band. Think QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, think TOOL. On their second album “Uppercat” the trio explores more pop and nuanced sounds while retaining a good dose of energy and aggression. The themes of the 7 songs navigate between feminist and queer commitments, touching on consent and empowerment, but also more trivial and universal themes such as the relationship with confinement, delays etc…
