    On The Way To Eden

[engl] Proto–progressive, groovy instrumental psychedelia, recorded in France in 1969 by this pre–Sandrose band and released on the tiny Katema label. wirling Hammond grooves by keyboard virtuoso Henri Garella, top guitar playing by Jean–Pierre Alacen and a tight, funky rhythm section create one of the best early prog/psych French albums ever. First reissued on Guerssen back in 2010 and out of print for many years, here’s a repress in hard cardboard sleeve + OBI – resealable outer sleeve.

    EVERYONE INVOLVED

    Either / Or

[engl] First ever reissue of this UK private press masterpiece from 1972. Everyone Involved was a hippie collective formed by well- trained musicians, assembled by Alan Wakeman and Michael Klein (Solid British Hat Band) to record a set of environmental protest songs. Some of the members of this London based recording commune included vocalist Freya Hogue (ex- Sunforest), guitar player Lucinha Turnbull (later with Cilibrinas Do Eden / Rita Lee), and bass player Arnaldo ?Liminha? Filho (Os Mutantes) among others. Either / Or? is a perfectly played and professionally recorded album (something very unusual for a private pressing). Top- notch psychedelic folk- rock / acid- folk with male- female vocals, flute, electric- acoustic guitars, bass, drums and some freaky / weird arrangements- effects. The album is now also famous for including A gay song, which is probably the earliest known example of a pro- open gay song. The original pressing of 1000 copies was never distributed or sold at stores, all the copies were given away for free (even to people passing on the street!). One of the members even buried a large number of them in a time capsule at the Amazonas rainforest! Needless to say, the original album is a highly sought- after artifact since the early days of obscure psych- prog record collecting. This reissue reproduces the original embossed cover and includes repros of the two rare inserts, including the giant fold- out poster with new linernotes and info printed in the revers. We?ve also included a repro of the ?Save Piccadilly? 7? single released in 1972, featuring a non- album track: ?The circus keeps on turning. Remastered sound from the original master tapes. Limited release of 500 copies only!!! This short- lived band cut one of the crowning glories of the English private pressing scene: a superb progressive / psychedelic folk set with all original material and some stunning performances. The overall mood of the album could be described as Jethro Tull meets Incredible String Band, shot through with a hippie communal vibe'' Richard Falk (Galactic Ramble).

    FACTORY

    Path through the forest

[engl] Sixties UK freakbeat legends get a new legit re- release of their complete available recordings and Guerssen is the proud new home for them. A real cult freakbeat & psychedelic group, well- known for such all- time classics as ?Path through the forest? and ?Try a little sunshine?, Factory released only a couple of 45s (both of them obscenely rare and paid big$$$ when rarely showing up). Here we get the 4 tracks appearing on these 45s, plus a couple tracks taken from acetates (killer covers of Familys ?Second generation woman? and Fairport Conventions ?Mr. Lacey?), as well as a new mix of ?Path through the forest? that includes the original, different psychedelic effects that were supposed to make it to the original release but were dropped out by the MGM label superviser. Remastered sound (only beware, ?Second generation woman? comes from a destroyed acetate!) and with linernotes by Factorys producer Brian Carroll.

    Fairfield Ski

[engl] Birmingham's Fairfield Ski are one of the greatest lost UK psych/prog bands ever. With a line- up which included ex- Terry Reid?s band Bill Bonham (cousin of Led Zepp John Bonham) on keyboards, their only recorded legacy is one of the rarest artifacts from the first UK psych- prog era: only 3 copies are known to exist of the Fairfield Ski acetate album, recorded in 1973 at top London studios such as Trident, Abbey Road and Apple. A perfectly played and professionally produced record which ranges from full- blown psychedelia to glam, hard- rock, progressive- pop and dreamy psych. Echoes of Forever Amber, Five Day Rain, Octopus, Deep Purple, Procol Harum, ?Abbey Road? era Beatles and Appletree Theatre can be heard on the grooves of this lost classic. Fantastic remastered sound restored from the original acetate using state- of- the- art equipment Insert with rare pictures and detailed liner notes by Andy Morten (Shindig!) revealing the Fairfield Ski story for the first time

    FAPARDOKLY

    Fapardokly

[engl] Fapardokly is probably regarded as the most important release in Merrell Fankhauser’s long career, and an absolute collector’s item. The band recorded about 30 tracks in a small studio in Palmdale, California, from 1965 to 1967, when the owner of the studio decided to release an album with some of these tracks. With such different recording dates, you find here different sounds....organized 60’s pop, jangly folk–rock, psychedelia... a truly fantastic album that finally gets, for the first time, a legit vinyl reissue and with the original artwork. Comes with an insert featuring photo from Merrell’s personal archive, and linernotes by him as well.

    FAR OUT

    Nihonjin

[engl] "Some albums are certainly a kind of holy grail for music lovers and collectors of a certain genre, style and era. FAR OUT with their eponymous debut and unfortunately also farewell album from 1973 have created such a sacred gem. Original copies in good condition change hands for up to 2000 USD and there are certainly a few not so official reprints on vinyl and CD out on the market which do not even come close to do justice to the greatness of the old original black gold. But here we go with the first ever official vinyl reissue taken directly from the original mastertapes supplied by Nippon Columbia. EVERLAND MUSIC did a brilliant job as usual with their reissue. The coverart with a white glove hanging on a washing line to dry comes on an awesome heavy gatefold sleeve. Including 2 inserts with live photos from back in the day when the band was going wild on stage. Now for the most important part, the music. There are certainly not too many wild moments here since both long tracks „Too many people“ and „Nihonjin“ have a melancholic, dreamy approach with a desperately howling and sighing lead guitar that spouts some utterly intense melodies. These two tracks are epics in the pure sense of the word. They start both with a rather gentle part which develops into a journey of sound that bring either vast landscapes of enchanting beauty untouched by modern human life or quite dramatic scenes to your mind’s eye. The lead guitarist often uses some strange instrument which is a kind of electric sitar to add the atmosphere of eastern mystic. So while falling into a state of deep trance while letting the music rush through my ears into my brain my spirit that has left my body embarks on a trip from the smokey volcanic hills around Pompeji to the icy permafrost wastelands of the Northeastern lands and arrives somewhere in the East Asian jungle on a gold plated pyramid of an unspeakable age where laughing demons dance around mystic fireplaces. Yes, this is the real journey to the center of your mind and despite having no really abstract freak out parts, tricky instrumental runs and twisted rhythm figures this music will capture your whole existence for the next 38 minutes. The end of „Nihonjin“, the second tune, shows an ambient like section with synthesizer background, echoing atonal sitar, a brightly squeaking flute, organ carpet and some percussions. This is indeed a rather extreme part, due to the pointed tone of the flute but quite soon the music stops and leaves the listener back in reality. This second track later on got a kind of reappearance on the FAR EAST FAMILY album „Nipponjin“, also retitled as „Nipponjin“. Mastermind behind both acts is multi instrumentalist Fumio Miyashita, so there is no wonder. The later version has more space rock elements and electronic sounds than the original FAR OUT tune and is a little bit shorter all in all. But I digress. This is the real thing for those who still miss the melodies and atmosphere of the late 60s and very early 70s when people had a dream of a peaceful world and who enjoy early German cosmic kraut rock like AMON DÜÜL II, ORGANISATION (later to become KRAFTWERK), the debut album by TANGERINE DREAM and more obscure stuff but also international bands like PINK FLOYD, GONG, TWINK and HAWKWIND just as an East Asian version. A real gem and finally available with the real sound and package again."

    FLIPPERS, THE

Pronto viviremos un mundo mucho mejor

[engl] One of Colombia's better known 60's & 70's groups is Los Flippers. But few people outside Colombia knows about this wonderful 1973 album they did. It's probably because it was self- released by their leader Arturo Astudillo's own label rather than the bigger labels they used before, hence low sales. But in any case, it's no doubt a great album that must be heard. The music on this album is quite special, as it blends psychedelia with progressive sound and soul as well. With a very good production, here we find Los Flippers at their peak of inspiration and being now a bunch of very experimented musicians. The result is much more mature than any of their previous works of course, and they really achieved a sound that ranges with any supergroup. With all original compositions except a Buddy Miles cover, they used a good dose of psychedelic effects and some tasty horns as well. As an addition, this first ever reissue comes with a killer bonus track from an earlier 45, with a killer sound reminiscent of Iron Butterfly. Remastered sound from tapes (except the bonus track), and insert with liners by Arturo Astudillo.

    FUSIOON

    Absolute Fusioon

[engl] The giant Dayglo green amphibious creature floats above its bright orange backdrop like the last slice of peel on a Melicoccus bijugatus Spanish lime. As your focus blurs, the black letters in the fumetti speech bubble emanating from the acid croc’s gob offer nothing in way of an explanation for his bizarre portrait. You frightfully race to the end of a long line of 12” plinths desperate for images of hammond organs, longhaired hippies, guitar peddles, outsize afros, pastoral landscapes or the comfort of a very normal Roger Dean cosmic battle scene of a solarised Keef Macmillan ghost face. As Cyrillic and Greek typefaces spelling out badly translated Double Dutch flash before your eyes alongside non-stop images of giant eggs, melting skulls and oversize eyeballs you can’t escape the gaze of the big green gator while his wobbling words – “Fusioooooooooon!!!” – echo through the next crate of psychedelic unknowns. You are struggling through a huge European record fair and the enigmatic and unforgettable record sleeve that is embedded in your memory could strike again at any turn. In time you will grow to know it and trust his familiar toothy grin. Recurring copies of this successful unidentified Mediterranean monster will act as a familiar bright orange beacon back to central European shores and one day when you are feeling brave enough you might even step closer to his beady eye, stretch out his gatefold tail and listen as he opens his gaping jaws and sings. Crocodile? Alligator? Lizard? Dinosaur? All four? Fusioon, as the name suggests, are a very unique band. From the foundations of the Calalonian rock Laieta movement, Fusioon are an uber-legendary exponent of Ibiza’s 1970 psychedelic club scene. An essential for fans of freak funk and symphonic jazz rock with no Egg-ception. Imagine a Spanish mutation somewhere between Goblin and The Stake Reality. Featuing tracks from the cosmic studio of Joes Llobell (Enterprise/Oliver’s Planet). Snap it up while you can… An Absolute Belter.

    GOLEM

    Orion Awakes

[engl] A glorious blend of Space–Rock, Kraut and Psychedelia courtesy of the mysterious Golem. Plenty of Hammond organ, analogue synths, ripping guitar, effects, trippy jams..."Orion Awakes" was recorded and produced circa 1976 by Toby Robinson a.k.a. Genius P. Orridge, while he worked as second engineer at the famous Dierks Studio in Cologne. Memories from those hazy times are sketchy but all leads to believe that the musicians featured here were well–known names from the Kraut scene under pseudonyms, recording 100% underground, non–commercial music under Toby’s guidance, just for fun. Apparently, "Orion Awakes" was released as a very limited hand–made pressing housed in a silver foil sleeve on the Pyramid label, which was ran by Toby and his friend Robin Page, the Fluxus artist. No original copies have ever been found. The fascinating liner notes by Kraut expert Alan Freeman talk about seeing an original copy of Golem at a record shop in Germany many years ago and he also sheds some light on who could be the real musicians involved, as well as discussing the controversial story of the Pyramid label and the accusations of Golem being a manufactured 90s "fake" instead of a real vintage 70s recording.

    Grit

[engl] First ever reissue of this ultra-rare acetate (two copies pressed) from 1972! Featured in Hans Pokora’s book with the maximum scale rarity. Psychedelic hard-rock with furious drumming and stunning lead guitar by this unknown until now London based band. This, the first ever reissue, includes the four tracks from the original acetate (taken from the master tape) plus two bonus tracks taken from lo-fi, crude rehearsals: “1000 Miles” (A Grit original) and a killer demo version of “Mineshaft”. Free Digital Download card includes the full album plus another 3 digital only bonus tracks, also taken from rehearsal tapes, including cool cover versions of Chicken Shack and Burnin’ Red Ivanhoe. *Master tape sound, insert with detailed liner notes and photos. *Includes free download card with bonus tracks Born from the ashes of a London band called Merlyn, Grit consisted of Frank Martinez (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Christodoulou (bass/vocals), Tom Kelly (drums, vocals) and Jeff Ball (vocalist). Frank, nicknamed “Spider”, has an interesting story: at the beginning of his musical career he auditioned for Joe Meek at his Holloway Road studio. Later, he also played with a band called Grand Union - who supported Pink Floyd in 1968 - and with members of the John Dummer Band. An electronic wizard, Frank also worked building amps and electronic equipment at Nolan Amps, MIDAS, etc. He built the Twin Stacks and PA’s that later would form part of Grit's equipment. Tom Kelly came from a band called Connexion and Paul Christodoulou had played in Merlyn along with Frank. After some attempts, the definitive line-up of Grit was born when Frank and Paul convinced drummer Tom Kelly to join them, after assisting to a Nazareth concert. They also recruited powerful singer Jeff Ball after an ad in Melody Maker. On Christmas Eve, 1972, Grit recorded a demo at SWM Studios and two copies of a one-sided 12” acetate were pressed for promo purposes. It featured four self penned songs: the killer “Mineshaft” (pure underground fuzz hard-rock) and two lengthy numbers: “Child and The Drifter” (with some furious drumming, stunning leads and hard-prog moves) and the hard-psychedelic “What Do You See In My Eyes” / “I Wish I Was”. Armed with the acetates, the band visited some music agents in London but nobody was interested. But while looking for a manager, they found a company who secured them a Greek tour. This was a true adventure and they managed to appear on television and play with big names from the Greek psych-prog scene like Socrates and Peloma Mpoklou in big festivals. Sadly, due to a family problem, Frank had to leave the band and return to England. That was the end for Grit. 40 years later, one of the two copies of the original Grit acetate was found at a flea market in Germany, which led to its inclusion in the 7001 Record Collector Dreams book by famous collector Hans Pokora. The band still remained a mystery until 2019, when, by pure chance, Alex Carretero from Guerssen found Frank Martinez and he opened his vault, which included the original master tape of the Grit acetate and several tapes with rehearsals from Grit and Merlyn. So, we’re proud to present the first ever vinyl release of one the rarest artifacts from the UK 60s-70s underground scene, including an insert with rare photos / memorabilia and detailed liner notes.

    GRUPO AMIGOS

    Paloma mensajera

[engl] Originally released as a demo pressing in 1973, ''Paloma Mensajera'' by Peruvian band Grupo Amigos is without doubt one of the rarest albums from the South American psych scene. Only a handful of copies were pressed for the band members and needless to say, an original copy is impossible to find now. The band was formed by some long- time friends of Saúl and Manuel Cornejo, both from legendary Peruvian bands Laghonia and We All Together. Manuel Cornejo played drums on the album recordings and Saúl was the session engineer. Influenced by groups like Beatles, Byrds, Stones, Badfinger, Shakers and of course Laghonia and We All Together, the music ranges from terrific guitar psych- rock like ''Dirty Girl'' (which sounds like an outtake from Laghonia's first album) to British sounding pop- psych (''Mr. Taylor's Train'', ''Psychiatrist'') harmony pop á la Byrds on ''Looking for home'', a few rockin' tunes and some beautiful mid- tempos which show their We All Together influence. They alternate English & Spanish in their lyrics.

    GULAAB

    Ritt durch den Hades

[engl] Ultra-rare lost psychedelic Kraut-Folk from 1979. First time on CD! Taken from the original mastertapes! Gulaab means “rose” in Nepalese language. Gulaab is a German virtuoso on the acoustic guitar who has served three years as an after dinner musician in a luxury restaurant in Nepal to play for an amazing number of well known personalities of the 20th century during the early 70s. A strongly influential experience that shaped his musical expression big time but also let him become an open minded spirit. “Ritt durch den Hades” is the result of his experimentation with sounds, atmospheres and a multitude of styles in traditional music from Latin to Eastern Asian elements. It was first released in 1979, vanishing into obscurity soon after , waiting to be rediscovered by a more open minded generation of music lovers now. Traditionalists be forewarned : This mystic grail of 70s “kraut folk” stands far out from the average folk and singer / songwriter stuff combining guitar harmonies of the highest order with a cosmic drone that backs up the hypnotizing picking and trippy swirls of sounds. This album is in fact more like a musical journey than just a piece of music taking you from secret sacrificial altars in the Andes to the ceremonial places of the ancient Himalayan population with a short stopover for a little “joint venture” in the musical space centers of highly flown out German originators like ASH RA TEMPEL / Manuel Göttsching, POPUL VUH / Florian Fricke, WITTHÜSSER & WESTRUPP, BRÖSELMASCHINE, DOM or DEUTER. Now take a ride through Hades with GULAAB!
