[engl] A never before released batch of recordings by the great one man band troubadour....and maybe his best record to date! Seriously. Abner has recorded the majority of the songs found on this LP over and over - some were recorded with R&B bands in the late 1950’s, some as earnest folk ballads in the early 1960’s and some as homemade one man band recordings on electric banjo, drum and harmonica throughout the 1970’s. Here Abner plays these songs more deeply felt than at any other point, accompanied by his electric guitar, plaintive harmonica and solid almost tribal bass drum. We don’t know exactly what date these recordings were made, but they stand as absolutely timeless. Unless you are some kind of sociopath, you will be moved by these performances. I don’t have time to lie to you. Abner Jay is one of the world’s most unique and important artists. No one sounds like Abner. It’s the blues, ancient folk ballads, spirituals, R&B, and pop all rolled into one very American sound. A truly independent musician who performed at swap meets and fairs out of his custom converted trailer, Abner Jay traveled the United States from the 1930s until his passing in 1993. Told with his characteristic blend of humor and pathos, “I Don’t Have Time To Lie To You” is an unsparing take on the country Abner Jay knew so well. [engl] Abner Jay is an extraordinary one-man-band with one of the deepest emotive voices ever recorded. “Man Walked On The Moon” features Abner material from two different periods. Side A opens with an early deep 1970’s version of his signature song “I’m So Depressed,” which has never before been reissued on LP. The hit is followed by four previously unreleased songs from the same period - “The Royal Palm” (a classic train song), “Old Black Joe,” “I’m A Hard Working Man,” and his paen to space travel, “Man Walked On The Moon.” All are sung and played by Abner with his standard one man band set up - electric banjo, drums played by his feet, and harmonica. Side B of the LP features Abner’s emotionally charged last recordings. These were made two months before Abner passed away, and here we find him pensively playing acoustic guitar and singing. The songs are incredibly emotional and not for the faint of heart. These mournful tracks were previously released on a Mississippi 10” EP back in 2011 (“Last Ole Minstrel Man”) and is long out-of- print. This LP collects some of Abner’s greatest work from across his career, all rare or previously unreleased classics! LP comes housed in an old school “tip on” jacket and includes a 20 page booklet with photos and a loving tribute to Abner Jay written by Jack Teague.

[engl] This is a phenomenal collection of the greatest hits of the most popular blues singer & guitarist of all time. This B.B. King compilation concentrates on nothing but his US chart hits between 1951 & 1960. This selection features several No. 1s and many tracks that made the Billboard Top 10. Such was his popularity that many of these hits were both sides of the same single. B. B. King was always a good buy for the jukebox industry because he had a reputation for usually releasing singles with two equally great sides and they are all here.

[engl] Brother Theotis Taylor is a 92-year-old spiritual singer and piano player known throughout South Georgia and beyond for his powerful voice and heavenly falsetto. His music took him from his home in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the stage with Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers, to Harlem’s Apollo, and even to Carnegie Hall. Though his releases are limited to six stunning and rare singles on the Pitch label and a single small-press LP, his recorded archive is vast. For much of his life, Brother Taylor kept a reel-to-reel recorder atop his piano at home. “The music just comes down on you,” Brother Taylor told us late last year. “You always have your machine where you can catch everything. ‘Cause what you can catch today you can’t remember tomorrow.” Brother Taylor recorded himself on his DIY home setup only when he was inspired by a higher power, often fasting and praying for days before recording. These intimate home recordings were digitized in 2020 and are being heard for the first time with this release. Revisiting these old songs brought Brother Taylor to tears. “[When I hear this music] I pick up the same spirit that I did it in. And you see me cryin’. It made me feel good ‘cause I know I did it and I did it well. And I want to see it get out, because if it made me feel good, it make somebody else feel good. Right? [engl] EARL HOOKER would undoubtedly have gone on to enjoy a major international career during the Blues/Rock era, had he been blessed with better health; but he sadly died in 1970, at the age of only forty. A cousin of John Lee Hooker, Earl was an exceptional slide player, known widely as 'The guitarists' guitarist'. He recorded few vocals as he was hindered by a stutter, to compensate, he concentrated on developing his playing technique. This compilation focuses on his earliest recordings between 1953-62, several of which were not commercially released until after his death.

[engl] The world’s first collection of gorgeous pop songs from Frank and His Sisters, a family band from Moshi, Tanzania. Formed in the early 1950s by Frank Humplick, Thecla Clara and Maria Regina, the trio recorded and toured throughout East Africa and issued a string of instant classics, capturing fans with their beautifully harmonized singing, clever lyrics, and Frank’s stunning guitar work. Imagine the fingerstyle finesse of John Fahey with a pure pop melodicism, com- bined with the family harmony of groups like The Carter Family, The Roches, and The Beach Boys, set in the golden age of Tanzanian music! Frank composed many of his songs while working the land on his beloved tractor (really), and once instigated a house-to-house search to destroy all copies of his record “Yes/No” due to political lyrics. He went on to record and tour with the Jambo Boys band before retiring from the music industry in the early 1960s, to focus on his passion for agriculture. But his favorite songs were always the ones he created with his sisters, and we are proud to present 12 of their best. Previously only heard on painfully rare 78 rpm discs and Tanzanian oldies radio, this album collects the trio’s finest songs, lovingly restored and remastered. We love this music so much that in late 2018 we traveled to Tanzania to meet Frank’s family and collab- orate on this album. The result is a colorful 8-page booklet featuring complete lyrics in English, Swahili and Chaga, as well as previously unpublished photographs, extensive interviews and anecdotes, and a biography by Tanzanian musician and radio host John Kitime. [engl] One thing is certain about the idiosyncratic J. B. Lenoir, he was a true original. No one ever sounded quite like him and despite comparisons by some writers to Arthur Crudup his high pitched vocals were pretty much unique. Although J. B. Lenoir only had one hit in the US with 'Mama Talk to Your Daughter' his influence over the British blues scene was immense. In fact John Mayall was a huge fan and he helped to get his 45s released in the UK. Rocking R&B and topical social commentary all thrown in the mix. This is Chicago blues with a twist. Let's call it Chicago blues J.B. Lenoir style.

[engl] The pioneering Congolese guitarist best known for the song "Masanga," this is the first compilation ever dedicated to Jean-Bosco Mwenda! Perhaps the greatest influence on central and eastern African guitarists, Jean-Bosco created a totally unique approach to the acoustic guitar in the 1950s, which caught like wildfire across the continent. Featuring 12 rare songs of beautiful, complex fingerstyle guitar & Mwenda's warm voice, and 2 beloved classics - all restored from original 78 RPM discs. [engl] This is the reissue of the second album by JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON originally released on Chess in 1963. Johnny was already a well praised musician in the field of jazz, rhythm & blues and a popular sidekick for early rock'n'roll heroes such as LITTLE RICHARD when he recorded this beautiful album. Despite the title of the album it mostly contains a swinging and accessible vocal jazz with an irresistible groove and instrumental passages. JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON does not even play guitar on this record but gets ballistic on the piano and lays down some striking vocals with his distinctive voice. The overall pace is relaxed and so is the music that has a bit of a retro feeling already being steadily rooted in the 40s and 50s swing and vocal jazz but JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON and his mates on drums and bass really pull it off with a fresh and exciting edge. A steaming song like “I'll remember April” might be an exception. But this is an instrumental with furious piano lines and a nearly Latin beat that recalls a bossa nova dance tune just played in a more hot blooded style. The overall performance is top notch and so is the clear and sappy sound. Even a creamy ballad like “Polka dots and moonbeams” has its relevance in the entire musical picture. These two songs may show the edges of his style for “The blues soul of...”. They present an inspired bandleader and musician anyway. No wonder he reinvented his own style a decade later when funk and soul started to dominate the black music scene. Still the music sounds and feels like the cover of the album shows it. Here you can see a very well dressed and styled young man playing chess alone in front of the fireplace. And the album really turns this picture into music. Well executed, well produced, perfectly styled but still spirited and passionate. Mr. Watson managed to live in both parallel worlds. The mansions and the backstreets echo his melodies. He was a visionary at each stage of his career. If you love the outstanding 1950s and 1960s vocal jazz, this will be the thing for you!
