STARCHILD JR. (FUNKADELIC)
Hand Me Down Diapers
[engl] Starchild Jr. named GARRETT SHIDER, is a seriously talented guitarist, much lauded and in demand in the music industry. This might be unsurprising since Garrett was brought up on guitars being the son of legendary PARLIAMENT / FUNKADELIC guitarist, musical director GARRY SHIDER. This Funky album is a tribute from son to father, and an extension of PFunk Allstars (the next generation so to speak). ?Hand me down diapers? is a punchy versatile album with gorgeous guitars and harmony. Featured on it is the Funk maestro himself, GEORGE CLINTON, as well as other bandmembers of today's FUNKADELIC crew. - Rachel Kinoti, www.everland-music.com- Format

THE CHAPPARRALS
Shake Your Head
[engl] Originally released in 1978, it?s the only known album by this super hot Atlanta, Georgia band. The Chapparrals were known for wild onstage antics, deep funky sounds and for taking no prisoners when they opened for any of the numerous recording acts they had the pleasure of working with back in the ?70s. These guys are a perfect summation of popular funk groove as their album is a blistering blend of bassy rhythms and tight instrumentation. It also includes mighty sweet keyboards that sneak wonderfully alongside the guitar and horns, sometimes with wild moogy touches that are almost P-Funk. They performed with notables like The Commodores, The Isley Brothers, Sly & The Family Stone, Marvin Gaye, Graham Central Station, Kool & The Gang, Parliamant/Funkadelic and many others. This great album is a compilation of hot, stingy tunes with horns, smooth ballads with strings, featuring both fast and slow funky songs with heavy rhythmic passages. A surefire holy grail funk and soul LP!- Format

THE HEATH BROTHERS
Marching On
[engl] This obscure and difficult to find LP is the Heath Brothers debut album and is considered to be their best. 'Marchin?on' is unquestionably a masterpiece and is a much sought-after album. With its wealth of riffs, it is much appreciated by samplers and has been sampled by various contemporary artists. It was originally released in 1976 on Strata-East, a label at the time co-owned by Stanley Cowell. The album flows fluidly, meticulously in a warm rich blend with the four part smilin Billy suite being a tour de force on its own. All suites have the same anchor in melody but each branches out to its own distinctive song varying from relaxed to light to dramatic and upbeat. The Heath Brothers was formed in 1975 by brothers Jimmy, Percy, Albert Heath and the much celebrated pianist Stanley Cowell in Philadelphia. The band later on continued with the brothers and alternate new members, with at one point the very talented 'Mtume' who is Jimmy Heath?s son, joining. - Rachel Kinoti,- Format

10. CoolTHE JOHN DANSER OCTET
The Danser Revolution
[engl] Earlier in 2017 Everland Jazz presented a reissue of Danser's Inferno's - Creation One, originally released in 1973. Now we present the even more obscure release The Danser Revolution by The John Danser Octet, almost impossible to find in original format. The ultra rare funky jazz LP from 1977 contains the killer funky fusion tune ''Cool'' known for being sampled by Gangstarr, Blackalicious and J.Dilla. At age 14, John Danser emigrated from London and established himself in New York City where he earned a master's degree in music at the Manhattan school of music. In his early years, Danser played in classical as well as jazz gigs, simultaneously arranging and composing. In the 1970?s, composer and multi-instrumentalist John Danser formed Danser?s Inferno, a funky Jazz-Rock-Fusion band, an ensemble of 14 very talented musicians. The John Danser Octet most probably contains the core of that same ensemble but the groups?s single album is so rare that little is known about it?s exact origins. So, just let the great music speak for itself. Licensed from Jessica Danser- Format

Tutt Band
[engl] This is the only album from The Tutt Band known to ever be recorded. The ultra rare and sought after boogie-funk LP on Spoonful Records out of Phoenix, Arizona was released in 1988, but style-wise it sounds much more like being recorded in 1983 or 1984. It contains ten very solid and good tracks - both club tunes and slow jams - that all hit the required spot. There's also some treats for all Roger Troutman and vocoder lovers. Head straight to the ultra dope tracks 'Get It On' and 'She's Got It Going'. In retrospect The Tutt Band has been one of the little known but essential groups whom created the funky and beat heavy new jack swing sound that dominated American r&b from the mid eighties and early nineties.- Format

Afro-Rock

CLUB SOUL - THE TWISTED WHEEL
[engl] 180g heavyweight audiophile vinyl in single packaging. "When I walked down those stairs for the first time, I thought I'd sold my soul to the devil!" Pete Roberts The Twisted Wheel in Manchester is one of the legendary names in British clubbing history. Originally launched in a coffee bar in 1963 it quickly developed a reputation as one of the country's finest venues for hearing obscure, imported soul, R&B and ska records. Music fans would flock from all around the country to the weekly all-nighters to hear these records along with live sets from some of the finest soul artists of the time. The term 'Northern Soul' was in fact first coined by the journalist Dave Godin following a visit to the Twisted Wheel to describe the distinctive brand of music played there. Featuring a host of legendary R&B artists including Bobby "Blue" Bland, Joe Haywood, The Sharpees, Benny Spellman, Alvin Robinson, Solomon Burke, Ernie K-Doe, The Rubaiyats, The Ad Libs, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino and more, all newly restored from the original analogue tapes.- Format

Ghana Soundz
Afro-Beat, Funk and Fusion in 70's Ghana Ghana Soundz was an idea first hatched 3 years ago by compiler and DJ Miles Cleret. Since then he has painstakingly travelled the length and breadth of Ghana to assemble three collections of rare Afro-beat, Afro-funk and Afro-fusion, most of which has never been released outside of Africa and some of which is unreleased anywhere. The musicians and producers have been tracked down, licenses gained, and the information, notes and history pieced together. These albums form a unique window on a scene previously unknown outside of Ghana until Volume One was released. Pounding rhythms, blaring horns and pumping vocals ?? the music is a document of a time forgotten when flares and Cuban heels strutted the streets and night-spots of Accra, the sizzlingly hot and humid capital of Ghana. Influenced as much by traditional rhythms and local highlife as by the music of Fela Kuti, James Brown and Santana, these tunes had almost become extinct ?? until now!- Format
