    ACRYLICS

    Sinking In

[engl]  Santa Rosa's best band has done something important, vital and oh so real. At it's core "Sinking In" is a frustrated reflective hardcore punk album tackling the struggles and conditions of the ever ripening world we live in. But there is a deeper vein of humanity, cooperation and hope at work here. They've always had a clear message of inclusivity, fun and forward thinking at their shows but to finally have that tangible ethos hit us in our homes, when we need it most, is a wonderful bit of fortune. And timing, damn. We are so excited to finally share this album with you. It's been quite the journey... The first pressing of this is 300 black, 150 white and 50 silver veined vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board sleeve with poster, 20 page booklet and download card included. Recorded and mastered by Andrew Oswald. Artwork and everything visual by J. Party.

    ALIEN NOSEJOB

Once Again The Present Becomes The Past

[engl] Non-stop rocker Alien Nosejob, aka Jake Robertson, returns to earth with his second full-length record of 2020, finally bringing the high-octane hardcore punk side of the band to an LP. Hot on the heels of January’s "Suddenly Everything Is Twice As Loud" LP, Nosejob carries on their winning streak and wordy album titles with "Once Again The Present Becomes The Past", which instead follows in the footsteps of the November’s "HC45" 7; merging early 80’s hardcore and late 70’s NWOBHM. "Once Again The Present Becomes The Past" started life as a concept record about Australia’s first and largest air raid, the 1942 Bombing Of Darwin. However, while grappling with this heavy subject-matter, something from Norm Macdonald’s book, of all places, stuck with Jake: "The Present Became Past Again". History is forever repeating itself. It continues to happen. It will happen again. As the record took shape, it was fleshed out with the help of his new reel-to-reel recorder, turning crust and hardcore influences into the dark and cold array of songs documented within. Find out why Alien Nosejob is one of the rare signifiers of both quantity AND quality. 150gr vinyl come housed in a 24pt jacket with lyric insert and download card. Art by Ginklet. Mastered by Mikey Young. Everything else was done by Alien Jake themselves.

    Men And Their Work

[engl] After a head warping intro "Men And Their Work" kicks into eight driving postpunk rockers full of angst, confidence, feminism, melody, grit and a sense of direction not commonly found in a debut album. Shit, most seasoned bands don't even make albums this coherent. It's a smart moniker as ALL HITS certainly lives up to the promise. There is a 60/40 split of familiar comfort and provocative mystery inherent in every song. You get shouted sloganeering backed with barbed melody and finessed power-ups massaged into the sweetest spots. We can't put our finger on exactly what it is that makes this record so special but whatever it is there is a lot of it. Destined to be a modern classic. Destined to be a modern classic. So much so, that Rough Trade has deemed it their "Record of the Week" for June 26th. Lovely. 300 black, 100 translucent smoky blue and 100 coke bottle clear (a Rough Trade exclusive color) 150gr copies housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with lyrics insert and download card included.

    BACZKOWSKI / PADMANABHA

    Mastoid Process

[engl]  "Since John Coltrane and Rashied Ali created "Interstellar Space" with only sax and percussion, opening through this limited line-up new realms of expression, often raw, hard, yet incredibly direct and open, many have seen the opportunities it offered and followed their example. Playing in a trio format is for many already a tough task, but relinquishing the typical role of the bass as melodic and rhythmic anchor point, offers a total freedom of interaction, but it's like poetry without rhyme, there is no comfort zone to fall back into, no safe haven, no safety net, it's swim or drown. Without technical mastery, creativity and close listening skills, it's hard to create anything meaningful at all." -freejazzblog.org Steve and Ravi are indeed true masters of the hive minded sonic attack. Swirling madness and whispered genius. I've seen it live and I can attest, it is incredible. Like the other singles in series 3, there are 300 copies on black vinyl with hand stamped labels housed in a hand stamped j-card sleeve. A one-time pressing.

    BOG PEOPLE

    s/t

[engl] Back in 2010, Bog People were the band everyone was talking about. Speedy UK82 punk infused with heaps of chorus and fuzz with live shows that were psychotic and colorful fog machined melees. Word spread like wildfire. The demo was out and burning up every fuckin’ boombox in the country. And then a teaser split 7” came out that was just a couple tracks from the same demo session. People were frothing at the mouth for new recordings. And then, they vanished, back into the bog from whence they came. But not before tracking an LP. A doomed session that was deemed too “speedy” and therefore, abandoned. All kinds of rumors circulated: “Did they get abducted and mind erased?”, “Where is ‘the bog’ located and did they fall in?”, “Did they break up?”, “Did they get arrested?”…and we have been waiting ever since.

    ...An Expression In Pain

[engl] Rage fueled powerviolence/harDCore from the “ City of Magnificent Distances”. Since their 2018 inception, Brain Tourniquet has payed homage to the classic West Coast Power Violence legends like Man Is The Bastard, Crossed Out and Neanderthal while maintaining their own identity and consistently twisting the conventions of the genre to make something new and urgent and fucking skull crushing. ‘...An Expression In Pain’ takes that forward trajectory 10 steps further and absolutely decimates expectations. This band is truly a light in the darkness.

    BRAIN TOURNIQUET

    s/t

[engl] Back from the bowels of forced-shut-in sessions with their 2nd EP, BRAIN TOURNIQUET amplifies the frustration and bitterness of the all too familiar life pause that was 2020. Not that life is all that great in the first place. Senseless murder and hate surround everything. There is no freedom. There is pain. You know what would feel good right now? Throwing a brick through an actual person. We could laugh at all the parts that fall out and wash down the gutter. Now take all that violence and put it to grinding distortion. That is BRAIN TOURNIQUET. Hardcore, power violence, whatever you want to call it, it's angry.

Nine prickly post-punk slashers baring their teeth on subject matter ranging from social paranoia to full autonomy to drowning in hair. CONSENSUS MADNESS

    s/t

[engl] Seven scratchy punk gems channeling a thing in which disaffected youth and energetic misfits alike can rally against the snow-soaked blandness of the Illinoian city they inhabit. Running the gamut from the proto-punk mayhem of DV8 to the early hardcore toughness of The Effigies and from the sinister outsider art of The Tyrades to the comparatively sophisticated Plasmatics. A thrilling statement of middle-finger intensity and rule smashing iconoclasm. Consensus Madness skirts the edges of chaos and good taste, holding a mirror up to society’s ugly underbelly. “They’re good, bratty fun.” - Paul R.

They sure don’t waste time with any unessentials. What they have done is take a little more time with “My God…” since the previous tapes and 7” to expand on their sound and enrich the overall listening experience. Autogenesis

[engl] These are questions CYBERPLASM asks of it’s listener on their newest release, “Autogenesis”. A record showcasing the techno/terrortronic backbone of the band in its full on pulsing etherial machine glory. Though still very much a punk band there are no guitars to be found on this recording. Rest assured there is, however, a heaping amount of discordant noise and dystopic political lyricism tripped out way beyond the psyche. A new realm of music is being created here, tucked somewhere in the void between 90s techno and the ultra fuzzed maniac punk of the 2050s, music so modern it’ll make your head spin right off your neck while your body writhes in complete underground rave ridden pleasures. As a bonus, the EP comes with two remixes of “Autogenesis” by the homies, HIDE and Silo 77. You need this like a sickie needs medicine. Get twisted.

[engl] Their self titled debut, which consists of four caustic dekompositions, is a bleak and industrial thing filled of layered percussion, wild power electronics, masked vocals and hostile guitars. It starts with sharp stabbing loops and almost jump scares in the first track, moves to a throbbing dystopian rhythm, anxiety builds to climax and teases release by the end of the side. DIÄT

    Positive Disintegration

[engl] Years in the making, the follow-up or maybe even companion piece to 2015's "Positive Energy", "Positive Disintegration" sees the band with a bit more of a pop zap to the ever present post punk dreariness of modern Berlin life... Or even modern life at large as most of the lyrical content has to do with the monotony of barely getting by or trying to have a meaningful exchange with a remotely interesting person. These things are hard to come by most of the time and this music eats at that very feeling. It's almost enough to make you wanna throw in the towel and move to Spain without a care in the world to haunt your remaining days. You probably won't though, you'll most likely listen to this record while you sip your overpriced room temperature coffee drink whilst ordering new bulbs for your anti depression lamp from a major online retailer. It just feels like life is getting away from you, ya know? Dark. 200 copies on translucent orange, 550 on black 140gr vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with lyric sheet, poster and download card included. Recorded at DongXuanProductions. Mastered by Daniel Husayn. Art by Yuta Matsumura and Made Ollosp.
