    CONSTANT COLD WAR

    Constant Cold Compilation

[engl] Waving the second flag of LPS, complete with a murky minimal-post-punk tuxedo, is the one-man project Constant Cold War. Throbbing drum-machines lay frigid rhythmical bricks in the construction of a dystopian monotone structure. A crumbling sideroad further corrupted by insistent guitar clatter and a deep, contorted voice. CCW’s songs make up a dreary, lucid soundtrack for modern-day living, an ominous pulsation slowly degrading our ‘Posture’ until we find ourselves squashed into a ‘Hole’ of inner vacuity. CCW is Marian Gmeiner – an established artist producer, emerging from the innovative DIY punk/post-punk scene of Berlin and Graz, who has already left his mark with work in projects such as Catholic Guilt, Cult Values, Imposition Man and many more. As part of Le Petit Signal ritual, this record is released on 12” vinyl, risograph-printed, glued, stamped and crafted by hand, and limited to 100 copies only.

    GELBART

    Music For Living In Magazines

[engl] The first signal from the LPS mothership is the obscure miniature-magnum opus “Music for Living in Magazines” by synthesizer wunderkind and all-around analog weirdo Gelbart. Originally released in 2002 as a limited-edition CD commissioned for Pil and Galia Kollectiv’s “Living in Magazines” exhibition in Camera Obscura Gallery, this is the first time that this work appears in vinyl format. Tel-Avivian by birth and Berliner by choice, Adi Gelbart is a polymath artist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, animator and writer who, for the past twenty years, has been on a relentless mission to forge a surrealist mirror-universe through bold sound and imagery.

    MOON KING

    Hamtramck '16

[engl] After being on tour for much of 2015, Toronto-born singer and producer Daniel Benjamin found himself in a transitional phase. Burnt out from playing over one hundred shows that year, he parted ways with longtime friend and collaborator Maddy Wilde. He then relocated to Detroit, Michigan, settling in the diverse and densely populated neighbourhood of Hamtramck. Over the next year, Daniel immersed himself in Detroit’s dance music and DJ culture, which influenced the recordings he produced in his small room on Belmont Street. The tracks were rough, but luminous and very much homemade. Hamtramck '16 truly captured moments of self-enjoyment, of being in a new place with new friends, relaxed and open to exploring new ideas. The album is a humble documentation of Moon King’s shift into the domain of disco and synth-pop. Previously released via Montreal label Arbutus Records as a limited-edition cassette in 2017, our Petit Signal foundation is now releasing Hamtramck ‘16 for the first time on vinyl.

    V

    No Return

[engl] """The first time I visited their house (some artist space dump), V showed me some of their music. What I first expected to be a random demo, was a discography of over ten full albums. We listened to one after another, each filled with incredible melodies, beats and lyrics about genuine love, pain and hate. With no time for showers, teeth-brushing or keeping a tidy room, V is one of the most productive musicians I’ve ever met.” - David Hantelius (Cuntroaches, Urin) - V’s long-time friend and former bandmate in Batalj and Transylvania. Despite being Hellbent on becoming the popstar that they are, V (perhaps to our good-fortune) was coerced into the punk domain. V’s music is dark, raw and uncomplicated. In 2012, V collaborated with Adrienne Teicher (Tusk, HYENAZ) and together they transformed V’s early demos into an ornate electronic, goth and darkwave infused production, with added beats and radiant arrangements. Our Berlin-based foundation - Le Petit Signal - is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of V’s demos with a baby blue cover, the third in a undeclared series of primary color pressings. LPS is honored to release this honest, pure, festive and minimal triumph from our dear friend and adored artist V, which we have entitled ‘No Return.’
