    BLIND TO FAITH

    Unstoppable War

[engl] Blind To Faith are back with a merciless offering in the form of their new album "Unstoppable War”. Their most focused and savage release to date, the 9 songs on "Unstoppable War" mark a triumphant return to form for the hard hitting five piece. Their debut album "The Seven Fat Years are Over” (2009, Holy Terror) and relentless but sparse live shows instantly earned the band a cult following, establishing themselves as a premier metal/punk outfit, delivering a nonpareil brand of aggressive and heavy anti-music. Featuring members of Rise and Fall, Inhume, Reproach and Lifespite, Blind To Faith are veterans of the scene and have been blurring the lines between metal and punk since 2008 with menacing results. Recorded at Hearse and Overdose Audio in their two home countries (Belgium/The Netherlands) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon, the band has managed to perfectly capture the sound which embodies their hostile and relentless musical and lyrical style. While nothing has changed at the core of their sound, they have clearly pushed the songwriting envelope on Unstoppable War. It's an unsettling and bitter manifest of frustration and the endless fight for self-empowerment. And while the record is super focused and clearly showcasing the one track mind of songwriters Vince and Nabbe, the 9 songs all showcase a very varied array of influences from within the extreme music world. The full-on audio assault will certainly appeal to fans of Hellhammer, Discharge, GG Allin, Today Is The Day and Entombed to name but a few.

    CREMATIONS

    Dissolution Of Balance

[engl] Cremations debut full length 'Dissolution Of Balance' is an intense escapade of metallic hardcore on a number of levels. Formed in 2016 and featuring members of Empty Vision, Downfall of Gaia and King Apathy, the Hanover based band have consolidated their efforts into a hard hitting and concise body of work. Their first EP 1417 which was released in the Winter of 2017 provided close to 15 vigorous minutes of aggressive and atmospheric charm. This was merely a taste of what was to come. Heavier and more intense than their previous offering, this album is already a standout release of 2020. Taking a consistent approach musically, lyrically and visually has led to a unified opus and another step up for this colossal group. From the outset you can tell that there is more on offer here than your standard hardcore record. It skilfully fuses punk sensibility with metal persuasion. The songs get straight to the point and are executed with the utmost fury. No intros or interludes, just 100% rage. Lyrically, a dark and misanthropic theme is established from the outset and built upon over the course of the album. The artwork is a clear visual representation of the lyrical content and these bleak sentiments are matched by the album title; describing an imbalance of a planet that is rapidly disintegrating. Appealing to fans of All Pigs Must Die, Rise And Fall, Trap Them and The Hope Conspiracy, this is a diverse release with potential to become a timeless classic due to the focused result and the ageless subject matter - the perennial destructive nature of society. Unfortunately it seems like there will never be a time when the exploitation of mankind and its environment will not be a relevant subject matter and this has clearly inspired and affected the band. David Deutsch/1408 Productions captured the sonic excellence at Waveland Studio in Hanover and mastering was performed by Alan Douches at West West Side in New York, USA (Baroness, Black Breath, Mastodon). The aforementioned album cover photo was taken by Maik Przyklenk and clearly communicates the subject matter at hand.

    DEATHSOMNIA

    Self Sabotage

[engl] Deathsomnia is a UK and Estonia based three-piece band bringing forth a unique sound emanating from dystopian industrial punk soundscapes enveloped in raw emotion, industrial climatic momentum and live band energy.? The creative synergy between the multi-instrumentalist members Kadri Sammel (Bedless Bones), Richard Powley (Telepathy) and Bruno Russo, and their individual punk, hardcore and electronica backgrounds, are the source for Deathsomnia’s music genre bending originality.? New York based producer and collaborator, Ben Greenberg (Uniform. Black Marble, Bad Breeding, VR Sex), describes Deathsomnia’s blending of subtle industrial elements into guitar driven songs as cyberpunk and a welcomed break from current popular darkwave aesthetic tropes.? “What I’ve noticed in the past year is that people are looking for something new, they just don’t know what it is yet. There’s a huge space now for us to push things creatively to find new spaces that have either been ignored or misunderstood or simply did not exist yet in people’s minds. I think that Deathsomnia is very much a part of that,” says Greenberg.? While their groovy riffs and crashing percussions draw influences from Wipers, Dead Moon, Health and Godflesh, Sammel’s beguiling vocal melodies are dressed with Depeche Mode and Primal Scream undertones.? “We have an imperative to create new sounds by blending sounds that would not normally be combined and messing with the fabric of people’s reality to make them question what they are hearing,” says Greenberg.? The powerful song “Self Sabotage”, featuring drums by Mike C. Sharp (Uniform), is a poignant and catchy anthem about finding beauty in the depths of negative emotion.? “I wanted the songs to turn out gorgeous in a really classic way but also heart-breaking. I think this is what we have got with Self Sabotage. It’s beautiful but also really sad and that’s pretty accurate when I look around at the world,” says Greenberg.? Deathsomnia’s highly anticipated EP will feature a Swans cover and artwork by Dwid Hellion (Integrity). Produced by Ben Greenberg and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Ghostmane, Code Orange).?

    You Will Never Find Peace

[engl] Darkwave up-and-comers Deathsomnia are a UK/EUR-based three-piece who bring forth a sound that emanates from dystopian punk soundscapes enveloped in raw emotion, industrial climactic momentum and live energy. Today, they’ve announced their extraordinary ten-track debut album You Will Never Find Peace, set for release on September 3rd via Isolation Records. Today, the trio — featuring Kadri Sammel (Bedless Bones), Richard Powley (Telepathy) and Bruno Russo — have unveiled the album’s industrial-tinged first single, “Katabasis,” which features contributions from Kyle Kimball (of NOTHING + Night Sins). The track showcases the band’s ability to capture a balance between punk guitar rawness and ethereal synth tones. While the song’s title refers to the loss of voluntary movement, the marching drum pattern and pounding rhythm induce a high energy reaction impossible not to dance to. Kimball comments, "When I heard Katabasis I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Deadly serious but danceable with straight to the point lyrics. Deathsomnia made me a fan immediately. Here’s to descending…” The creative synergy between Deathsomnia’s multi-instrumentalist members ?and their individual punk, hardcore and?electronica?backgrounds, are the?source?for? You Will Never Find Peace’s unique dystopian?punk?and industrial sound and genre-bending?originality. Their?groovy riffs and?crashing percussions?draw?influences from Wipers, Dead Moon, Health and?Godflesh,?the?beguiling?vocal melodies are dressed?with?Depeche Mode and Primal Scream undertones.? Additionally, Mike Sharp (Uniform) plays drums on the album and Dwid?Hellion (Integrity) provided the artwork. The album was mastered by Arthur Rizk (Prurient, Power Trip, Code Orange) and produced by Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Cold Cave, Ceremony); the latter describes Deathsomnia's blending of subtle industrial elements into guitar driven songs as "cyberpunk and a welcomed break from current popular darkwave aesthetic tropes."

    HAWSER

    All Is Forgiven

[engl] Named one of Europe’s fifteen most interesting hardcore bands by Alternative Press, Hawser is paving the way to becoming one of Europe’s keepers of the flame. ‘Sing along to the songs of love lost’. With one of the opening lines on the bands sophomore record ‘Tough Love’, Hawser sets the mood of defeat that they hold until the very last song on the record. With some of the band members being in their early teens when they started, their members initially not only visibly struggled with their personal identity, but also the bands identity in the scene. Solidifying their sound on ‘All Is Forgiven’, the band comes into its own, tackling themes in a way that isn’t particularly traditional to the hardcore scene, while at the same time retaining the scenes ethics. ? Maybe that is why Hawser has stood the test of time amongst many other European hardcore bands that came and went over the last ten years. The profound way the band seems to channel certain individual struggles in a universal way that speaks to an extremely loyal fanbase. At the same time the band has retained a sound that is easily identifiable, withstanding any way the wind in the scene was blowing.? The band has toured Europe relentlessly over the last nine years, sharing the stage with bands like Downpresser, Turnstile, No Turning Back, Jesus Piece and Suicidal Tendencies and they are doing another European run alongside Madball, Knocked Loose and Harms Way on the upcoming (postponed) Rebellion Tour.? It’s not just the things you say, but the things you do, and Hawser and its members make no bones about their hardships and hypocrisies. On their upcoming full length, All Is Forgiven, the band begs for, and offers forgiveness in a world of guilt, shame and torment. Forget the tough guy act, enter Weltschmerz. Because when all is said and done, you can only hope that all is forgiven.?

    LIFESICK

    Swept In Black

[engl] In 2016 LIFESICK released their debut LP '6.0.1' through the prestigious Southern Lord records, not just making their mark within the heavy music genre but smashing a dent that no one would soon forget. Now, having signed with Isolation Records, comes their follow up second album, 'Swept In Black'. If the first album made a dent then this one is making a crater. These 10 songs take you on a journey through pain, anguish and suffering. While keeping a steady element of cohesion and focus throughout the album, each song still stands out from the others by providing a new way for your ears to be assaulted. They have achieved this in a number of ways which is where their musical maturity really shines through - using different time signatures, arpeggio guitar lines mixed in with full power chords, varying tempos with seamless transitions... all of this culminating in a confident next step for the band. Each song makes sure you are kept on your toes and constantly on edge for what is to come next. Recorded by Jacob Bredahl (ex-Hatesphere) at Dead Rat Studios in Arhus, Denmark and Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, Portland OR, you can hear this is a focused sound stemming from an abundance of knowledge - both are veterans in their own field and LIFESICK have found a winning formula in this combination. They have ensured that every nuance has been captured and showcased, blending it all into a colossal frenzy. The album has a crisp production but has still managed to maintain the fundamental power that you usually only experience at a live show. Originally formed in Frederica, Denmark back in 2015, the 5 members pulled together their wealth of musical experience from previous bands to bring LIFESICK into existence. Inspired by life's turbulent nature, their hateful and depressive hardcore is impossible to ignore. With elements of sound that bring to mind bands such as Power Trip, Nails, Bent Life and Twitching Tongues, their seething rage is bursting out and overflowing into the ears of the listener.

    MASS WORSHIP

    Spiritual Destitution

[engl] MASS WORSHIP are Scandinavia's latest metal offering, adding to the next chapter in the already world renowned dark and heavy music to come out of this area. Producing a raw, organic, aggressive and yet articulated sound executed with finesse, they combine influences from their peers and fuse that sound with a contemporary edge. By doing so they have created something unique, crushing and relevant. The members carry a long combined history of strong work ethics, comprising of relentless touring and recording schedules, which has already earned them a strong following and established them within the mainland European area. Originally formed in the Fall of 2016 under the name CITY KEYS, the band quickly set about promoting their first 7" Tip The Scale (released by Isolation Rec. / Evil Greed) with a relentless touring schedule all over Europe. Since then there has been a continuous forward motion leading to a second 7" release called “Rites” in 2017 (Isolation Rec. / Evil Greed) featuring guest vocals from Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates) and Bjorn Dossche (Rise & Fall), partnered with regular touring and playing shows with the likes of Comeback Kid, Touché Amoré and sharing festival lineups with No Turning Back, Cruel Hand and Brutality Will Prevail. Having found their unique sound with the second release, the band then refocused their efforts under the name MASS WORSHIP with a clear vision of what they want to achieve. “Spiritual Destitution” serves as the first taste of the forthcoming debut full length that will be recorded later in 2018 in the legendary Sunlight Studio (Entombed, Dismember, Refused, At The Gates, The Hellacopters…) by acclaimed producer Tomas Skogsberg, to be mixed by the band's own guitarist/songwriter Fred Hunger (Fvck Life Studios) and to be mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, further uniting the blend of classic metal with a modern punch which has become their signature sound. These two songs offer a full on aural assault, reflecting the relentless decay and disarray which permeates our species and civilisation. Since the digital release, it has already received regular play on P3, a National Swedish Radio show, cementing their presence as a force to be reckoned with. As well as planning for the summer touring circuit, upcoming tours are already booked with Comeback Kid, Knocked Loose and Malevolence, Blacklisted, plus playing Pitfest alongside Vader, Exhumed, Bloodbath and The Lurking Fear.

    MORTALITY RATE

    You Were The Gasoline

[engl] MORTALITY RATE from Calgary, AB, Canada, unleash their new EP 'You Were The Gasoline' - with a sound as punishingly intense and hostile as this, you can't help but stop and take notice. Bringing to mind the harsh and aggressive sound of bands like Heartless and Trap Them, these 6 emotionally charged songs are bursting with belligerence. The EP is fused together with intense lyrical content stemming from inner sadness and anger but also striking out with discontent at the surrounding world. This ardent approach delves to an even deeper level with this newest EP being released as a tribute to the band's close friend Evan Cole Shaw, who had a prominent and lasting impact on their scene. Building on previous releases including a self released vinyl EP in 2016 and a split with Judiciary in 2017, this formidable four-piece are proving their high level of potency and passion with each subsequent release. Despite their challenging geographic location, MORTALITY RATE have clocked up multiple tours across Canada and the USA with bands like Every Time I Die, Knocked Loose, Power Trip and Jesus Piece to name but a few. They have also formed a close tie to Year Of The Knife, with Madi Watkins contributing piano and guest vocals to the opening track 'Lena' and creating the artwork for the release. MORTALITY RATE will also be bringing their brand of sonic substance across the Atlantic with a EU/UK tour booked for September 2019 with Angst and Serration.

    OBSTRUKTION

    Monarchs Of Decay

[engl] Obstruktion are the latest band to declare their intentions to the world with their debut album, 'Monarchs of Decay'. Based out of Gothenburg and featuring a number of Swedish hardcore veterans and luminaries, this band have drawn influence from the music of their formative youth and have finely honed this sound using their many years of experience and cumulative musical wealth. The result is an album of utmost severity and vigour that tears through social constructs to disclose the arrogance of the privileged. The band don't strive for a particular genre/sound and instead have made sure to create something unique and fresh while still paying homage to their predecessors. Appealing to fans of Hatebreed, Bitter End, Obituary, Harm's Way and Earth Crisis, their tightly knit sound transgresses the boundaries of musical trends. There is a strict no filler approach with songs such as Monarchs of Decay hitting hard from the get-go and delivering sublime guitar solos and dive bombs. Throughout the album, there is a masterly metal and hardcore aggression produced with a timelessly heavy execution. The vocals are delivered with the same mighty power as the subject matter is through the lyrical content. Driven by Hate starts with a haunting guitar line that builds to a punishing impact, showing maturity and excellence are both present in the craft of their songwriting. With soaring guitar harmonies and tight chugging guitars, Blackened Skies maintains a heavy groove that draws you in with a neck snapping ability. Other tracks feature pounding double kick, huge breakdowns and a relentless drive that keeps the pace moving with a satisfying tempo. The album itself is a thematic body of work built around the concept of the violence of our culture and our inabilities or unwillingness to comprehend and break this cycle. With a message as intense as this, it is no wonder that the every other element from the music itself to the production and artwork all reflect this same level of darkness and aggression. Each song has been created to be overwhelming in its own way while still contributing to the record as a full entity. The overall structure and tracklisting have been carefully arranged to deliver full impact and the end result clearly manifests intensity. With a debut record of such a high standard, Obstruktion have both purpose and passion and are certainly ready for action.?

    PARTISAN

    Savage Peace

[engl] With a creation far bigger than the sum of its parts, the 3 members that make up Partisan have produced a lavish and far-reaching album with their latest release 'Savage Peace'. Already having several other well received releases under their collective belt and with a line-up consisting of members of Oathbreaker and Rise And Fall, they have covered a lot of ground and are building on some very solid foundations with their unique amalgamation of musical styles. Although it may be easiest to sum up the band as a post-punk group, this would be doing them a massive disservice as they clearly have influences that extend far beyond those boundaries. This translates into their sound and makes for a very refreshing approach that pays homage to some of the greats from the early 80s punk scene but also allows them to break new ground while maintaining a high degree of stylistic consistency. Being seasoned veterans of the Belgian underground scene, it is clear to see how they have managed to amass such a high level of musical aptitude and translate it into their songwriting. The 8 songs on 'Savage Peace' form an accurate representation of where the band currently are in their musical journey. Being open and honest, they have shed some of the more aggressive aspects in favour of a stripped down approach yet they still manage to keep the same sense of urgency; a feature which has always been present in their sound. Part of the reason for this and adding an extra degree of natural charm is the fact that it was recorded live. This has been showcased extremely well by their well thought out production and mixing choices (Michäel Neyt, Jetson) and mastering (Jack Shirley, The Atomic Garden, San Francisco, USA). The bright sounding guitar, full bass and punchy drums create a cohesive sound upon which the vocals sit superbly. The overall balanced and rich tone gives the listener a satisfying experience and makes for a truly original sounding record. Thematically, the album explores ideas of doubt and acceptance. An extremely relatable subject matter, it not only allows the band to voice their interpretation but also lets the listener to delve into a world where they can ruminate on these topics. This existential quandary weaves an eye-opening look at the fragility of our individual and collective lives and how we navigate through these situations in order to find some sense of peace and hope.

What Does It Make You Feel?

[engl] Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Passthru is a five-piece metal band constantly diverging between genres and crossovers. Persistently abusing the thresholds and ignoring rules of the universal ideas of music. Their first LP release "What does it make you feel" dives into a world full of sex, drugs, death, and constant fear of being alone. It is a wrenching, annoying soundscape of pure raw violence. The rawness of the sound was created in the woods of Norrtälje by the hands of the legendary Thomas Skogsberg (Entombed, Dismember, Darkthrone). The eerie darkness of the area contributed to the gnawing noise from sunlight studios that birthed the sound of Swedish death metal, discussions about communism, and his love for rum. "What Does It Make You Feel" makes no sense as much as it does, nothing out of the ordinary exists in Sweden. Both the captivating design by Ridge Rhine (Knoocked loose, seeyouspacecowboy, Wristmeetrazors) and the genius mastering by Audiosiege make the music more chaotic, disgusting, and weirder than it should be.

    REDEMPTION DENIED

    Where Dead Ends Meet

[engl] Bjorn Dossche of Rise & Fall and Chain Reaction on Redemption Denied and their new album "Where Dead Ends Meet": Somehow, longevity is a rare thing in hardcore. Consider yourself lucky if your favourite band made it past the 3 year mark. What's even rarer is a band that pushes on - despite line-up changes, personal careers and the pressure of "adult" life - to deliver their first ever full length album almost a decade after their debut EP. But, that's exactly what Redemption Denied did. And the damn thing hits like a sledgehammer. Granted, the subtle approach was never theirs, but on this album the vigor, determination and sheer power can be felt in every single song, every single riff and every single word singer Kasper spits. It's clear that while "Where Dead Ends Meet" was being written, Redemption Denied sharpened their skills and made sure their all out assault didn't lose the dynamics needed to keep everyone's attention, all of the time. Their 90s CTHC (Hatebreed, Death Threat) meets Upstate NY (All Out War, Stigmata) sound has never hit harder, not in the least by the increased death metal influence that tips "Where Dead Ends Meet" over the edge of what's socially acceptable in terms of heaviness. The destructive aggression their music possesses, is more than matched by the apocalyptic, socio-political lyrics that strike a precarious balance between embittered and empowering. It's their testament, written in blood. "Where Dead Ends meet" was recorded at Jupiter Studios in their native Belgium, mixed to perfection by Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues, Xibalba, God's Hate) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Ringworm, Never Ending Game, Integrity), and boasts incredible cover art by Ridge Rhine (Terror, Knocked Loose, Judiciary). To top things off, it also features guest vocals by Tyler Mullen (Year Of The Knife) and Bjorn Dossche (Chain Reaction, Rise And Fall).

[engl] “In 2012, when we were getting ready to drop “Faith” (which turned out to be our final album), we wanted to get everything right. We were incredibly excited because the record had turned out exactly the way we wanted it to. […] To do it justice, it needed a fitting release show. So, we invited our friends in Iron Age and a mix of other bands we were into and got going. We practiced as often as we could and put together a set list that focused on “Faith”, but also included songs from our previous albums. The result is what you’re holding in your hands right now. If you couldn’t make it out to the show back then, here’s what it sounded like. If you were there with us, here’s your chance to relive that evening.” - Bjorn Dossche, Rise & Fall

    SIEM REAP

    Now What?

[engl] Over the past 3 years, Gilles Demolder — known for his guitar playing in dark metallers Oathbreaker and death dealers Wiegedood— has been silently working on finding a new sound and a new way of expressing himself. After what seemed like a lifetime of trial and error, throwing away song after song and a lot of endless nights of recording, Siem Reap arose. Wearing his heart on his sleeve, Gilles sings about daily life, thoughts about expectational masculinity, friendship, family and relationships, with substance (ab)use as a thread throughout his songs. His debut album Now What? deals with loneliness, loving and feeling loved, but most of all it is an honest experiment and a gateway into Gilles’ thoughts.

    SUNDOWNING

In The Light Of Defeat, I Cease To Exist

[engl] “In The Light Of Defeat, I Cease To Exist" came to life as a humble, even shy idea. Could you trace back the initiating moments of this album, you would probably find an intimate, honest conversation between friends much rather than a musical scenery. Publishing the songs that were written in erratic, explorative songwriting sessions wasn't given much thought – at least in the beginning of the process. Now, ten years after releasing their last studio album "Seizures Of The World", a new understanding of the same musical vision that they shared all along brought the band Sundowning back together. The Band that is now living scattered in Berlin, Hamburg and the Ruhr-Area was founded in May 2009 by lead vocalist and guitarist Christoph Wietzorek and has existed as the same outfit ever since 2010. Starting out young in the hardcore scene of the Ruhr-Area, Sundowning soon evolved into a solid institution within the European Doom-Metal scene. After several tours and releases, the members focused on other personal projects and the band entered hiatus in 2014. While Sunn O))), Cult Of Luna and Amenra are still very recognizable influences, "In The Light Of Defeat, I Cease To Exist" is a much more independent and less constricted work than the earlier releases of the band. The soundscape is more consciously chosen and benefits from the individually acquired musical skills of each member. Wind instruments now support heavy, pressing guitar riffs. String sections underline choral, perpetuating vocals. Samples and electronic sounds provide the necessary contrast. All while the thematic subject is more centered and visible: the album continues the narrative of "Seizures Of The World" and tells us about moments of failure, our own weaknesses und unfulfilled longing and hope. Mercilessly, the conflict of living in a steady discrepancy of intention and feasibility is discussed and the adaption to these circumstances is disputed. The blunt honesty of the lyrics is the product of a matured and naturally grown intimacy within the band, that always infused the process that is Sundowning. The album could not have been made in any other constellation. "In The Light Of Defeat, I Cease To Exist" is the second album of the band Sundowning and will be released into the world on the XXth of 2022 via the band’s own label, Isolation Records. The Album was written and composed by the Band Sundowning, consisting of Christoph Wietzorek, Pascal Thönnißen, Markus Uhle and Sebastian Busch. It was recorded and mixed by Nikita Kamprad (Der Weg Einer Freiheit) inside the studios of Ghost City Recordings in the summer of 2021. The record was mastered by acclaimed audio engineer Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets, known for his work with Lingua Ignota, The Body and Full Of Hell among many others. Full Of Hell also provided actual content to the record with singer Dylan Walker immensely contributing to the song “Imminent Ache”. The album artwork as well as the video to the first single “Imminent Ache” was directed by Sven Harambasic (Lingua Ignota, Soft Moon, Duma).

    TEETHGRYNDER

    Hostages

[engl] Amid the scattered forests and jagged cliffs of Scotland's east coast stirs TEETHGRYNDER, collaborative solo project from visual artist and multi-instrumentalist Jay Thurley. Walking out into the daylight for his fourth album, currently set to release on October 29th via Isolation Records, Jay continues to peel away his outer layers and reveal the new, while stepping forward into new territories. Hostages is climbing the cold mountain, getting hit by the sweltering sun, and the journey beyond. Written and recorded at the end of 2019, TEETHGRYNDER delivers his most sophisticated record yet, featuring Jaye Jayle's Evan Patterson and Daughters' Alexis Marshall, both of whom have worked with Jay previously. Other contributing musicians include Bossk guitarist Robert Vaughan, Visual artist and long-term collaborator Richey Beckett, Filth Is Eternal vocalist Lisa Mungo, Fall of Efrafa's Neil Kingsbury and among others, maybe even David Yow of The Jesus Lizard. Lyrically, the album deals with themes of deterioration, Thurley's journey continuing to dredge us into parts of ourselves we try to suppress, staggering through a world falling into turmoil in pursuit of a religious enlightenment, conflicted with the songwriter's sickly black sense of humour, stoic as it is unyielding. Sonically, a foundation of blues, Young Widows-style noise rock, cinematic movements, spoken word poetry, chaotic swathes of saxophone and electronics. Brought forward here are jangling guitars, pounding drums, amative strings and Leonard Cohen-like vocals both venomous and drunkenly rambling at a seedy bar in a Blade Runner dystopia - TEETHGRYNDER once again using juxtaposition to deliver a journey both hellbound and enlightened, challenging and contemplative.
