    ABORTED TORTOISE

    A Album

[engl] A union of five idiots with many gripes, Aborted Tortoise began as a "dumb high school band that soon grew to be a dumb mid-20s band". Alex (drums), Tom (guitar) and Charles (guitar) played their first gig at Tom’s sister’s 21st where they played "Kids in America" by Kim Wilde, twice. They soon recruited John (bass) and Connor (vocals) and continued to churn out songs about bees, the Goosebumps book series, Coles Minis, getting blasted into the sun and being born. They continued to effortlessly stumble their way into good luck, scoring support slots with credible bands such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Growlers and Ausmuteants. In 2018, they flew to Europe for some shows where they played in an abandoned basement, stayed in the worst hotel in Berlin and Connor almost lost his passport about 20 times. With four releases already under their belt, Aborted Tortoise will continue to dominate the front end of your alphabetised record collections with their 2nd LP, A Album. With the power of nepotism, they’ve swindled their way onto the eponymous label, Bargain Bin Records, a comfy place for them to call home and continue to make ‘stupid music for stupid people’.

    ABORTED TORTOISE

    An Beach

[engl] ABORTED TORTOISE’s debut album, An Beach, is just about everything you’d hope for from a Western Australian punk record: 15 tracks, half-hour run time, lots of sun-struck goon-flecked thrashing and a salty scintilla of uncynical surf rock. ... With the lo-fi immediacy of The Sonics, the faux-dumbass sensibilities of the Ramones and the sly musical inventiveness of Dead Kennedys, Aborted Tortoise definitely recall a lot of crucial punk touchstones. Meanwhile I’m also reminded of Melbourne brat-boys Ausmuteants, and more specifically, ‘90s Perth band The Feends - bonkers treble-heavy riffing with post-Ventures noodling and snotty sandgroper vocals. Plus, tongues balanced delicately in cheeks.... Aborted Tortoise might make most sense in the live setting: the visceral impact of a band going ballistic is most logically received there-and-then, with the sweat beads landing in your eyeballs. But like that recent winning album from Boat Show, An Beach does a stellar job of bottling the mayhem. Take it home, uncork it, let it breathe and then scull it like the filthy little demon you are.

    AR-KAICS, THE

    s/t

[engl] Richmond, Virginia’s The Ar-Kaics play a nai?ve brand of punk music in the tradition of American Teen Beat and amateur garage circa 1965 – or '66, at the latest. Ask a band member, however, and they’re quick to describe the sound as "a wild ass ride." On this self-titled debut LP they’ve traversed the muck and climbed out of the ooze, to walk pointedly upright on their own eight feet. Like all the dilettante Stones and Jr. Beatles before them, hammering away on department store instruments in their parents’ garage, The Ar-Kaics are one with their inner troglodyte child (hear: BACK FROM THE GRAVE, PEBBLES, TEENAGE SHUTDOWN et al. comps), showcasing a wealth of irresistibly simple hooks, fuzzy strut and primal swagger. Lucky for you this sound is NOW!!!! After a slew of singles on labels like NORTON, MARKET SQUARE, STEADY SOUNDS, The Ar-Kaics offer us a proper album's worth of thirteen A-Side originals; snottier (“No, No, No”); lonelier (“This Time Tonight”); darker (“Be My Baby”); rawer (“Can’t Keep Waiting”) than any critic or casual listener could have forecast. Recorded remotely during a weekend in the woods at Rag’s BB&R by Jeff Kane, the band had little contact with the outside world (apart from beer runs to the nearest gas station and late night screenings of Major League and Grumpy Old Men). What you get is an album in the true sense, ranging from ragers to moody ballads and back again, without a snoozer in the bunch. R. K. Vondopolis Roanoke, VA

    AR-KAICS, THE

    The Ar-Kives Vol.1 LP

[engl] "What can be said or done about 2020? Here at Bachelor Records we're sticking to what we know and diggin' in, while making every effort to stop and smell the roses, play more records, and take a moment for hindsight – like the year's numeric value suggests – with this trip down memory lane, on The Ar-Kaics' Ar-Kives: Volume 1 LP. Sidelined from touring (they were scheduled for another European endeavor) and recording their third full length because of a worldwide pandemic you might have heard of, The Ar-Kaics are staying home and finally getting around to doing the laundry. It's all here, and fresh as a summer daisy; all of the out-of-print, pre-Wick Records 45s, an early demo standout, and an inexplicably unreleased song from their self-titled album sessions are all on offer. Remastered loud for maximum rock'n'roll, but unlike the late and great rag of the same name, these songs are here to stay, in print! For those not yet indoctrinated, this fine selection of songs brings listeners up to speed on The Ar-Kaics' off-brand of spot-on 60s garage punk originals, something they've been channeling back from the grave and making their own for the better part of the last decade. Now, after no less than ten releases, it's high time to rollout a compilation album of the band’s singles, so you can enjoy these prime cuts without having to go to the record player and flip the platter or pull out the next single from the sleeve. In times like these it’s just nice to kick back and listen to these Virginia garage punk unknowns." Elmar / Bachelor Records

Somebody told me that their musick sounds like G.G. Allin and Roy Orbison in some kind of heavy petting infight while Paul Collins is having dinner with Cindy Lauper in a fancy fish restaurant. Duh!? BARRERACUDAS

    Dog Food

[engl] Please don‘t ask. I dont know what a Barreracuda is. Maybe a typo? All I know is that this band called BARRERACUDAS is good, so good that you can smell success. These four lowlifes from Atlanta, Georgia, have a solid 7" out on Douchemaster Records already which sounds very Glam / Pub Rock-esque and because of that this band was flying under my radar. BUT the new songs go into the Powerpop / Punkrock direction and of course GENTLEMAN JESSE and EXPLODING HEARTS come to mind while listening / dancing to this but ssssshhhh.... I dont want to start the hype machine. Look out for a hit album in 2010, but meanwhile, buy one or two copies of this single here! BATMAN

    Cucciolone classico

BATMAN & GARAGEKID

I'm not a monkey but I like bananas too!

[engl] Batman had several singles with Robin, a legendary trilogy between madness and comedy, between Garagepunk and No-Fi. All of them are sold out and OOP, and of course collectors items. He didn't treat Robin nice. So Robin ran away. Their way parted, and Batman did some singles on his own. Lonely times are gone, he found a new partner in crime, none less than Garagekid himself. Thee kid also has some classic 45 releases under his belt. What a perfect match. Together they re-define no-budget rock. Limited to 500 copies, includes a insert, handnumbered.

My hero power is my moustache

[engl] FINALLY IT’S DONE! Part three in the BATMAN & ROBIN trilogy is out now! And with this final part, the dynamic drunken duo recorded their (up to date) best songs. My boss spent the incredible amount of 20 Euros to send them into a “studio” to let them record four amazing songs, four hoopin’ and hollerin’ anthems, four footstompin’ soon-to-be classic tunes! Of course this kid MICHAEL “HACKI” HACKER was forced to do the artwork again, this time he even did a big two sided full cover poster as well, including the secret diaries of Batman and Robin…. He unravels the dirtiest secrets of your beloved superheros! This one is limited to 500 copies and – as all other BATMAN & ROBIN 7”es before – will not be repressed at any time. So take your chance and order this cray-zee package! Print Run: 500 copies, black vinyl, with poster and insert.

    BINGS

Power pop planet (the lost tapes)

[engl] This one is subtitled 'The Lost Tapes,' but it is not a reissue because in fact it was never released - until now! Forty years after their final recording session, Los Angeles-based power pop The Bings is releasing its debut album. The 16-track master tapes sat forgotten in a California bedroom closet until they were discovered in a filing cabinet during the 2020 lockdown. The Bings' 'Power Pop Planet - The Lost Tapes' is a literal time capsule from the pre-MTV 1980s, when new wave, punk, and power pop were still underground genres that flourished mainly in New York and Hollywood clubs. Driven by the songwriting of David Chrenko, and fueled by big guitars and 3-part harmonies, what you are listening to is the great "lost" album of the 1980s from The Bings: 'Power Pop Planet - The Lost Tapes.'LP comes with insert (liner notes and photos).

    BIRDCLOUD

    Dode

[engl] Meet Jasmin Kaset and Makenzie Green, two nice girls who met at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, that's about an hour east from Nashville, Tennessee. They started a country duo that maybe not your usual slick production Nashville sound that gained mainstream popularity all over the world. Birdcloud is also not really something you can call Outlaw country although they play with elements like satire and tackle tough topics with a toungue-in-cheek kind of way. They've been featured in magazines like Rolling Stone and Vice, and because their music and appearance is not quite country but also not really punk, its kinda hard to define a genre that would fit to the explicit lyrics in their songs… wanna hear some of their songtitles from the double album called Singles Only, with they bare backs on the front sleeve? Here we go… “Fuck you Cop” “Saving myself for Jesus” “I like black guys” “Washin' my big ol' pussy” “I cant stand up (I'm fine)” Okay, I think you get the picture. We saw them late 2017 when they opened for New York Rockers DIRTY FENCES, and we were so blown away that we spent the rest of the evening humming their tunes whilst sipping whiskey at the bar… Now, here we are in the lucky position to present their new (and first!!!) real vinyl single, a classic two song 45 limited to only 500 copies. The band will have these up for sale at their merch both soon, when they travel through the bars and venues of Europe this July.

[engl] So this is it, the last release of the CAVE WEDDINGS ever… sad thing, yeah, but I am glad that we managed to get them to release it on our imprint. These two songs are sugar coated but still not too sweet, they are kinda lo-fi-ish but in a good way, and like most BACHELOR releases it has the right amount of melody in it, like that magic abra cadabra formula that made 60ties pop songs into nationwide hit singles! The CAVE WEDDINGS were Eric, Erin and Nathan, these songs were recorded in the summer of 2009, mastered by Justin Perkins, Bass and Backing Vocals by Logan, Matt and Chris of the MIDWEST BEAT, Sleeve Art by Chris Capelle. CHOOSERS, THE

    Hanging Up On You

[engl] They are from Japan, they love Powerpop and the know how to sing / write melodies!!! These three guys are living on the northernmost main island Hokkaido, right in Sapporo City, and they did one firecracker of a single back in 2010 on the Japanese label POP’N’ROLL with two songs, “Christine” and “I Can’t Stop”, those 500 copies sold out in a jiffy. We immediately sent out our A&R guys to Japan to persuade them to do a single on Bachelor! And here it is! A classic single with two songs, an uptempo kinda love song called “Hanging Up On You” and a tearjerker of a flipside called “In my Dream”! Think of classic power pop bands like RASPBERRIES, 20/20 and NERVES mixed with the latest Japanese hitmakers like RAYDIOS, TREEBERRYS and GIMMIES! Yes I know, that territory is being explored much these days, but the THE CHOOSERS really take it to a next level. Stats: 500 copies housed in a thick glued cardboard sleeve.

    Terror in Klein Babylon

[engl] Dead Ghosts originally formed in late 2008 in the basement of Drew and Michael Wilky’s parent’s house in Vancouver, Canada with friend Bryan Nicol. Influenced by Pebbles comps and girl group records, they began writing and recording, addding bassist Maurizo Chiumento not long after. It didn’t take long for blogs and labels around the world to take notice, writing and praising about their songs uploaded to Myspace (yeah, those were the days...). In less than a year their first single “What To Do” was released on the Milk‘n‘Herpes imprint, the ball got rolling. After another single on Boom Chick we released the split single with Smith Westerns on Bachelor with fantastic artwork by C.M.Ruiz, this one sold out in a wink. More singles followed, leading up to their first full length put out on Florida’s Dying in 2011. The S/T LP, a mix of twang balladry soul stompers was a hit with the garage rock community from all over, which sold out and was repressed twice. They have toured the USA, Canada, and Europe with such acts as: King Khan & BBQ, Thee Oh Sees, and Nobunny to name a few. They boys feverishly worked on their second full length that was released by Burger Records in Spring of 2013 and sold out in no time. „Can‘t Get No“ made it to the top of many best of 2013 lists, sometimes even as „Album of the Year“. Bachelor Records is taking this fantastic album back in print, limited to 500 copies.
