[engl] GUTTER is a quite new band from the very prolific city of Lille, northen France. There is a lot of great bands coming from there since a couple of years. GUTTER released a cool demo last year and we were very enthousiastic when we heard these new songs. This first vinyl effort is a 7 songs 12" of distorded and bitter hardcore with a sour 80's aftertaste. GUTTER develops a very personal kind of anger and despair. The quartet has been compared to the recent wave of UKHC bands or to Boston bands but for us it's just a great fucking hardcore band done with sincerity.

[engl] Melbourne, Australia’s most feared hardcore cyber-vandal cell returns to wreak havoc on your network and your dance floors with the four-track “Psy Wi-Fi” EP. Following up the tightly-wound attack as heard on 2021’s “Pick A Path” 12”, Hacker have defragged the hardware and blown the dust out, striking again with more slightly more expansive songwriting. “Psy Wi-Fi” marks the welcome addition of a pinch more metal in the guitars and a fistful more pummel in the breakdowns to their established blueprint of direct, charging hardcore riffs, a rhythm section that is as agile as it is powerful, and one of the most expressive, capable and rabid vocalists in punk today. [engl] With their third EP in three years, HAIRCUT returns with CAKE their newest offering on another local RVA Label, following up after stellar releases on FEEL IT RECORDS and BEACH IMPEDIMENT. Pairing catchy riffs with catchy lyrics, this is the most to-the-point Haircut release yet, where they join their already established sound with a newfound simplicity. Definitely one of the best bands from Richmond's never-ending roster, HAIRCUT is completely relentless with these six tracks. If you like hardcore like then you definitely need CAKE.

[engl] After turning some heads with their debut 7" entitled "SHUTTING DOWN" released on the high quality Feel It Records label back in 2017, HAIRCUT have finally unleashed their follow up with the "SENSATION" EP. Four tracks of pummeling hardcore punk that retain the velocity and ferocity of the band's previous output whilst adding a decisive dose of meat and potatoes to the sonic formula, all the while Juliana belts out lyrics in both Spanish and English at a feverish pace. As we collectively sit on the cusp of entering the 2020's within a matter of months, HAIRCUT is a wonderful reminder that when it's done with equal parts precision and passion there's just no room for the gimmicks, posturing or other eye roll inducing baggage that tends to afflict the genre of hardcore punk, be it regionally or internationally. Such purity can stand on its own two feet and present itself loud and proud which is something that all enthusiasts can take great delight in as this genre cascades into yet another decade of continuation. Each record comes in a glue pocket sleeve with art and layout done by Colombian punk artist Juan Sebastian Rosillo.

[engl] Pulverizing grindcore meets raging powerviolence perfection. Need we say more? “Horrible Mess” collects everything Hatred Surge recorded between 2005 and 2007. This is the first time these tracks have been available on vinyl since they were originally released.

[engl] Named one of Europe’s fifteen most interesting hardcore bands by Alternative Press, Hawser is paving the way to becoming one of Europe’s keepers of the flame. ‘Sing along to the songs of love lost’. With one of the opening lines on the bands sophomore record ‘Tough Love’, Hawser sets the mood of defeat that they hold until the very last song on the record. With some of the band members being in their early teens when they started, their members initially not only visibly struggled with their personal identity, but also the bands identity in the scene. Solidifying their sound on ‘All Is Forgiven’, the band comes into its own, tackling themes in a way that isn’t particularly traditional to the hardcore scene, while at the same time retaining the scenes ethics. ? Maybe that is why Hawser has stood the test of time amongst many other European hardcore bands that came and went over the last ten years. The profound way the band seems to channel certain individual struggles in a universal way that speaks to an extremely loyal fanbase. At the same time the band has retained a sound that is easily identifiable, withstanding any way the wind in the scene was blowing.? The band has toured Europe relentlessly over the last nine years, sharing the stage with bands like Downpresser, Turnstile, No Turning Back, Jesus Piece and Suicidal Tendencies and they are doing another European run alongside Madball, Knocked Loose and Harms Way on the upcoming (postponed) Rebellion Tour.? It’s not just the things you say, but the things you do, and Hawser and its members make no bones about their hardships and hypocrisies. On their upcoming full length, All Is Forgiven, the band begs for, and offers forgiveness in a world of guilt, shame and torment. Forget the tough guy act, enter Weltschmerz. Because when all is said and done, you can only hope that all is forgiven.?

[engl] Formed and recorded over 'that period', you would probably think that THE HAZMATS, a new project with members of CHUBBY & THE GANG, GAME and BIG CHEESE among others would probably be giving you more of the same. However they've clearly been reaching for their Teenage Fanclub LP's, C-86 comp and The Clouds 7"s and have done what few have achieved, successfully applying their songwriting skills and coming up with a record that is neither a genre exercise, nor destined for the seemingly never ending indie landfill. This first 7" brings you two pop gems that will have you turning the record over and over, just like it should be, and thankfully just a sign of things to come. [engl] Headcheese is from Kamloops, BC, this is their first record for Neon Taste and the follow-up to last years demo.12 tracks of brash, alienated frustration that ride the early-80's, tuneful approach of hardcore punk. No slave to speed but no sacrifice to power either. This is the kind of exciting, gutsy punk rock that hooked me on the shit the first time I heard it. The kind of music that's had me dedicated to finding more of the same. I still feel every damn hook and this record has plenty of them. Good hardcore punk speaks for itself and we think the message here is loud and clear.
