GAS CHAMBER / BLACK IRON PRISON

    Public Humiliation II

[engl] When Iron Lung Records hosted a weekend of shows to celebrate our 10 years of being a label we secretly recorded a bunch of the sets hoping to catch some magic. We knew that the two bands were collaborating with the intention of doing a one-time performance especially for us which is a beautiful thing on it's own and a true testament to that group of people being 10 steps ahead of most bands anyway. We knew it would be intense but holy shit... to say that GAS CHAMBER and BLACK IRON PRISON are merely "intense" is a gross understatement. They are relentlessly and deeply immersed in their own musical world of mental, spiritual and physical annihilation. This would prove to be GAS CHAMBER's final performance. 500 copies on black 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt jacket with download card included. Recorded live at The Vera Project in Seattle WA. The record is an exact representation of the set without edits (except for a fade out/in for the side break) for time or tuning or any of that other shit that lesser bands do.

    GAZM

    Heavy Vibe Music

[engl] Tethered between two worlds: the real, and unreal; heaven and earth; hardcore and punk. Montreal's GAZM is the celestial link sent to meld and destroy. With vibes heavier than lead, their debut LP weighs down on all who hear it and forces listeners to slam or face their demise. Fourteen tracks that take you from the grimy city streets, straight to the hell that lies beneath. GAZM will be enforcing their cruel reign of terror upon the US this summer and the LP is only the meager beginning to the damages that will incur. Limited 100 limited slime green for band and mailorderd packed in a full color glue pocket sleeve with artwork by GAZM's own, Sebbe.

    GEHENNA

    Negative Hardcore

[engl] Formed on the West Coast in 1993, Gehenna quickly became a name synonymous with violence, hatred and fear. Their sound blends the genres of Death, Black and Thrash Metal, adding the unrelenting barbarism of Hardcore with the “Fuck Off” attitude of classic Punk. Gehenna have been independent & will always stay independent. The music of Gehenna is the sound of the unending battles of life and death. Negative Hardcore was recorded in the smoke filled caverns of The Crampton Crystal Compound in the first days of July 2015 and mastered in 2021 by Dan Lowndes. It was engineered by Robert Orr overseen by Jimmy Short and directed by the watchful eyes, attentive ears and controlling hands of Drugs and Alcohol.

    GELD

    Beyond the floor

[engl] Across 10 songs and a handful of instrumentals, Melbourne's GELD demonstrate a concerted progression from their previous work; raging incendiary hardcore collides with nightmarish bad trip wanderings in a swirling maelstrom of tightly marshaled chaos. The fast parts are faster, the slow parts slower, the weird parts weirder. The vicious thrashing punk of songs like "Invader" and "Infra" come in at a little over a minute; a wild joyride reminiscent of the Japanese Burning Spirits bands alongside Cleveland’s infamous ‘90s hardcore scene. Meandering hallucinogenic badness meanwhile emanates from "Gedankenfleisch", "Forces At Work" and "L.O.W.A.G. II", injecting the record with a terrifying sense of drug paranoia and psychological dissolution bringing to mind STICKMEN WITH RAYGUNS, FLIPPER or POISON IDEA. Purportedly undertaken as something of an exorcism, the writing and recording of ‘Beyond The Floor’ was characterized by “pills, meth, booze, weed, DMT, hate, betrayal, fear, love, depression, addiction, denial and broken bones”.

    Soft Power

[engl] A nasty follow up EP to the Perfect Texture LP released earlier this year finds GELD in a more irascible and unhinged state. Soft Power expands on the band's vision of a freer form of D-Beat with noisier sounds, tighter dimensions, wilder visions and subtler experimentation with carefully placed nuances. Don't be tricked into thinking this is some sort of hippy dippy jamband bullshit though, every second of this is cruelly calculated and executed with the utmost care. Damn.

    GHOSTLIMB

    Bearing and distance

    Cruel Heart, Cold Summer

[engl] Less than a year after their debut LP 'Qualm', Berlin's best dressed are back with a new line up and a new EP. I was thinking about the best way to describe this one and then it hit me. Some of you reading this are probably familiar with the feeling that comes in the days after that weekend when you decided to stay up for 48 hours, well that is accurately condensed and presented to you over the course of these four new songs. Paranoia? Check. Feelings of hopelessness? Check. The need to get the hell out of that sunlight? Check. The sudden sound of a saxophone? Check. This has surpassed the lazy post-anarcho punk comparisons. It's streamlined, superior and ready for you to feel both the serotonin overdose and severe lack of, all in the space of ten minutes. The record is limited to 500 copies on beautiful, bold and black vinyl presented in a pocket sleeve and insert with artwork from bassist Raquel Torre.

    GLASSES

    Compendium

[engl] There was a time when there was no way around GLASSES. I think everyone who’ve been involved in the European hardcore scene around the year 2010 was totally blown away by their furious fast Hardcore Punk and their excessive live shows. In the short time of four years they recorded two 12” Records and a split 7” with Comadre, which they shared the tour van not only at one occasion. Formed by (ex-)members of Trainwreck, The F.A, Perth Express and The 244GL they brought together the passion for dark and crushing Hardcore with a good sense of metal infused still driving riffing, heavy drumming and powerful vocals. With vocalists Sam moving to the US it became a bit quiet around the band in the last years. During the months of the pandemic they started being creative again, writing and recording new stuff. Contraszt! Records is excited to the bone to release their complete musical output - now remastered and remixed. “Compedium” is a collection of their work between 2008 and 2020 and appears on heavy double 180gr. 12” vinyl with stunning new artwork by Samantha Muljat.

    GOLDUST / DEATHRITE

    Split

[engl] If there are still inviolated, hidden paths between raw hardcore and metal in its most damaged moments, GOLDUST is the privileged band to explore them. Raging like an elemental force, their 2 songs on this split leave the listener shattered and helpless, yet deeply moved by the blank honesty of the lyrical content. Think of bands like GEHENNA, CURSED or EYEHATEGOD. GOLDUST share this split with DEATHRITE - without a doubt one of the most promising bands today. They continue to push the envelope of extreme metal, infusing influences of hardcore, punk and d-beat. Their ripping hybrid in the vein of TRAP THEM or NAILS perfectly embodies the anger and rage of a generation that was born into a fucked up world like this. [PK #054]

    GRAVEN IMAGE

    Studio Sessions: 82-83

[engl] In the summer of 1982, an already burgeoning scene in Richmond, VA saw the arrival of some new blood in the form of GRAVEN IMAGE. Taking both inspiration and influence from the hardcore punk explosion that was well underway all over the world, these youngsters who met at a local skate ramp channeled their aggression through the no bullshit hardcore punk that they churned out in their few years of existence. Having shared the stage with a veritable who's who of punk at the time (BAD BRAINS, MINOR THREAT, NECROS, C.O.C., VOID, THE FU's, etc) throughout the Mid-Atlantic, the band's explosive live performance fronted by the powerful and charismatic Dwayne Curd was evidence that they could hold their own when billed with the aforementioned titans of the genre. "THE STUDIO SESSIONS: '82-'83" features the entirety of GI's recorded studio output - first from the "YOUR SKULL IS MY BOWL" session circa fall of 1982 that became the extremely rare and sought after split tape with fellow local juvenile upstarts HONOR ROLE, and lastly from the "KICKED OUT OF THE SCENE" EP session that was recorded in 1983 and released the following year, plus some previously unreleased tracks from each of the studio outings that yielded these 22 tracks of USHC fury! Carefully transferred and restored from the original reels, each record comes with a 12 page booklet chock full of photos, flyers and even some liner notes from guitarist Nick Smilek and drummer Joey Boisineau. For admirers of early American Hardcore and not much else

[engl] GUTTER is a quite new band from the very prolific city of Lille, northen France. There is a lot of great bands coming from there since a couple of years. GUTTER released a cool demo last year and we were very enthousiastic when we heard these new songs. This first vinyl effort is a 7 songs 12" of distorded and bitter hardcore with a sour 80's aftertaste. GUTTER develops a very personal kind of anger and despair. The quartet has been compared to the recent wave of UKHC bands or to Boston bands but for us it's just a great fucking hardcore band done with sincerity.

Following up the tightly-wound attack as heard on 2021’s “Pick A Path” 12”, Hacker have defragged the hardware and blown the dust out, striking again with more slightly more expansive songwriting. “Psy Wi-Fi” marks the welcome addition of a pinch more metal in the guitars and a fistful more pummel in the breakdowns to their established blueprint of direct, charging hardcore riffs, a rhythm section that is as agile as it is powerful, and one of the most expressive, capable and rabid vocalists in punk today. Update your firewall all you want, Hacker is coming. Expect them. (Neil Bramley)

    HAIRCUT

    Sensation

[engl] After turning some heads with their debut 7" entitled "SHUTTING DOWN" released on the high quality Feel It Records label back in 2017, HAIRCUT have finally unleashed their follow up with the "SENSATION" EP. Four tracks of pummeling hardcore punk that retain the velocity and ferocity of the band's previous output whilst adding a decisive dose of meat and potatoes to the sonic formula, all the while Juliana belts out lyrics in both Spanish and English at a feverish pace. As we collectively sit on the cusp of entering the 2020's within a matter of months, HAIRCUT is a wonderful reminder that when it's done with equal parts precision and passion there's just no room for the gimmicks, posturing or other eye roll inducing baggage that tends to afflict the genre of hardcore punk, be it regionally or internationally. Such purity can stand on its own two feet and present itself loud and proud which is something that all enthusiasts can take great delight in as this genre cascades into yet another decade of continuation. Each record comes in a glue pocket sleeve with art and layout done by Colombian punk artist Juan Sebastian Rosillo.
