Brazilian Nuggets VOL 3
[engl] This is the third volume of the successful BRAZILIAN NUGGETS series put out by Groovie Records. As usual, it gathers oddities, surf, beat, fuzz and weirdo stuff that only crazy cats like Edgar Raposo and Luís Futre, the dynamic duo behind that label, are able to track down. As you might realize, all the tracks featured in this VOLUME 3 were taken from very hard to find singles, EP’s and LP’s that were certainly forgotten back than collecting dust in record store bins. Besides the well known bands The Brazilian Bitles and The Beatniks, whose labels, Polydor and Mocambo, were also well established names in the recording industry at the time, most of VOLUME 3 brings to the fore obscure artists and bands whose recordings come from equally obscure labels such as Tema, Leão Disc, Signoma, Orange (a parody to the Beatles’ own Apple label), Astor, Hollywood Discos, RCS and Disco Som. These labels were usually too small to obtain national distribution deals for their records, so many releases were regional, pressed in small quantities and became instant rarities. If it wasn´t for the record collectors themselves and the Groovie Records keen eye these rarities, released during the second half of the sixties in Brazil and known only to a handful of collectors, would have been lost forever. Texts, rare photos and record covers for your delight to....- Format

BRAZILIAN NUGGETS-BACK FROM THE JUNGLE vol 1
[engl] This project is nothing than a homage for those who fighted for rock n’ roll in Brazil during the 60’s and the mid 70’s. The tracks on this 3 volumes compilations are mostly from very obscure bands, most of them where not even part of the “JOVEM GUARDA” movement. So don’t expect to find here Roberto Carlos, Jerry Adriani or Erasmo Carlos, between other big artists of the time. Here you only gonna find the most wild and raw garage, psych and strange rock n’ roll approach, embedded in FUZZ and screamings that you ever listen to. These records, mostly, have been released in unknown labels, like California Records, RCS, FAMA, LEAO DISC, YOUNG, INSPIRAÇÃO, etc. The most part of those labels were from outside the big cities. Brazil have always been a big country, most of the states, something like what happen in USA at same time, had their own labels to release local rock bands. The Blobs, Os Nativos, Lup e Loy, Os Espiões, The Rocking Fevers, and many, many others were something like outsiders among “Jovem Guarda” movement. So here we are, giving a chance to people who want to know more about what happened during the 60’s in these incredible country that is Brazil. The first 3 volumes of these vinyl comps will be released soon, artwork by the well known canadian artist, DARREN MERINUK. So keep your eyes on this and don’t loose this for nothing. The records will bring a lot of texts, never seen photos, among other curiosities. Brazil is not only good in football and samba… the Fuzz lives there too!!!- Format

Java Java - Indonesia Screaming Fuzz
[engl] After the real savage compilations of Cazumbi and Zulu Stomp, Nosmoke Records attacks again...Now looking back to the Indonesian legacy of garage and rock'n'roll. Those bands wrote some history by theirselves during the 60's and confronted the Indonesian regime with music. Some of these bands migrated to Europe, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong and helped out creating a new musical movement called INDO- ROCK. Bands like The Peels, Swallows, Tielmann Brothers or Rolling Beats have been part of that movement. Lots of fuzz and rock'n'roll, making their own revolution trough the fuzz pedal. Among these, other bands confronted the regime inside Indonesia, like Dara Puspita or Koes, among others. Don’t look for protest ballads or even traditional songs here, there’s only room for garage, raw beat and indo- rock at its best. Remastered sound, with many photos and liners in the back.- Format

YAS&NAYS
s/t
[engl] Monster rare USA private pressing from 1968, rated with 6 stars in the Hans Pokora 3001 book . The Yays & Nays were a groovy, hip group comprised of three guys and three girls . This is a trulyunique sounding album, full of creative songwriting and vocal arrangements and a style that defies any cathegorization. There’s som fab garage folk-rock on it (the opening track “Gotta keep travelling” is really astounding!), and also some tracks in a bizarre crooner-lounge "Incredible Strange Music" vein. Reissued for the first time, in collaboration with band members, and with original artwork.- Format
