Split

KOBRA
Confusione
[engl] You may remember Kobra from a 5-song tape released on Milan's excellent Occult Punk Gang label back in 2018. Not to be confused with the other Italian band from the early 80's or the current rapper who also goes by Kobra. A pit of snakes to step carefully through indeed. "Confusione" comes after a couple of line up changes and sounds way different than the first tape. They channel the spirit of early anarcho-punk and Italian hardcore while still injecting it with their own unique personality. The album tells the story of young broke punks in Milan, always looking for a grift in the system, angry but also full of self-doubt, torn between activism and nihilism. 'Confusione' is 10 songs plus one interlude, 22+ minutes long. It features added saxophone by Luigi Monteanni from ArteTetra records. 150 on translucent red and 350 on black 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with lyric insert and download card. Art by Francesco Goats. Mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air studios.- Format

[engl] The hardworking Helsinki 4-piece are back with a new EP, which shows the band experimenting with different sounds on each side of the record. On side A the band draws inspiration from early Spiderleg Records EPs and Killing Joke, with raw, catchy guitar parts and vocals nicely layered on top of a heavy, driving beat. Side B offers 3 tracks of catchy yet relentless hardcore punk where intense screaming, pogo beats and broken-sounding guitars create a backdrop for a great mix of Finnish hardcore, Disorder and modern bands like Colombia's Muro. The lyrics illustrate a violent world plunging into chaos at an alarming rate, which seems to be the case in all parts of the planet in 2021.- Format

KOLOKOL

[engl] First time i heard about these guys i couldn't belive it, kids between 15 and 17 years old playing their own type of Hardcorepunk, no "kalimotxo punk", no "party pseudo-Oi!", stylistically far from what any of their peers in bands would play around here, and i got imnediately hooked. Their demo was out in october 2020 and it didn't take long to sell it out, 200 copies that were gone in the middle of a world pandemic, with no gigs whatsoever. 2 years later these young lads from Gernika are back with 3 new songs mainly influenced by the early NYHC stuff like Straight Ahead, Rest In Pieces, The Abused or Cause For Alarm. This flexi 7" comes with silver foil stamped center art and it's housed in an inner cardstock bag with sticker and open jacket. There are 3 colour variants:- Format

Internment Failure
[engl] Leeds/London band KOMA deliver their debut LP "Internment Failure": 12 tracks of brutal, unrelenting, constantly contorting and mutating hardcore - perfectly encapsulating the desperation of living in the final generations of a failed state, watching the life of the planet ebb away. Frantically written and recorded across 2 cities within the band's first 12 months of existence, KOMA casts a wide net of global influences but refuses to be indebted to any one singular band or scene. At times recalling the classic Finnish & Swedish hardcore of MELLAKKA and CRUDE SS mixed with the raw distorted brute power of VO?O PROTESTA and BASTARD; echoes of the unhinged mayhem of ATAQUE FRONTAL and CHAIN REACTION subside to moments of gothic tension like TOŽIBABE and PYHÄKOULU. KOMA makes a bold and ambitious statement of intent, a wholly-realised vision and fully-formed sound of pummeling riffs and powerful vocals that will remind of SACRILEGE's debut.- Format

Love & Revenge
[engl] KRIEGSHÖG is back. Five years after their last single and 14 since their debut album, the Tokyo Hardcore band finally delivers a new release. Love and Revenge is a record of consummate savagery and monster riffs. Picking up where Paint It Black 7” left, and moving forward as a heavy toned hardcore record that finds the band in its own realm. While following the Japanese tradition of long running bands operating at their own pace and mastering their sound along the way. The band leave behind their speedier sound, moving now at a slower tempo but still pummelling their riffing sound. The incorporation of a new drummer, adds much more than a steady beat, amplifying the KRIEGSHÖG sonic experience. Their sound is bass-driven to the point of near hypnosis, becoming quasi-psychedelic at times. The guitar tone is a nasty crunch and the vocal delivery has only got more brutal, with a glass eating demon on the mic conjuring the darkest side of your soul. Perfect for night rides into the abyss.- Format

[engl] The New Wave of Brutality and Hardcore Massacre has arrived. Tokyo punks KRIEGSHÖG are back with their first full length. After 3 7”s that we love at LVEUM they finally went for the album. Thirteen tracks of extremely bass driven hardcore destruction. The recording is relentless, full of energy and distorted. Yet moving from the ultra blown out recording of their earlier output. This is the band’s most dynamic recording so far and in our humble opinion is destined to be a classic and genre defining album.- Format

"It's a Beautiful Day in the Gulch" showcases 10 blazing tracks of classic Midwestern hardcore punk, the vibe of which is more in debt to the revolutionary aural offerings of the early Touch and Go and/or Version Sound labels or even Kick N' Punch Records as a slightly more modern reference than what the region has become synonymous with in more recent times. Each record comes in a stunning glossy jacket featuring art and layout by the band's guitarist Kora Puckett.- Format

Fitzgerald's Paris
[engl] Long before it began sprouting Americana bands on every corner, the sleepy college town of Charlottesville, VA boasted a punk rock scene whose ferocity belied its small size. The Landlords, along with Lackey Die and the Beef People, stood at the epicenter of the action. After releasing the highly regarded Hey! It's A Teenage House Party! LP in 1984, The Landlords returned to the legendary Inner Ear Studios over the next few years to record their second album, Fitzgerald's Paris. Restored from the original master tapes and released after almost 30 years, Fitzgerald’s Paris offers seventeen tracks of pure rock and roll mayhem. Fusing musical influences as varied as Black Flag, Chuck Berry, and Motörhead, side A’s avalanche of epigrammatic money-tunes showcases The Landlords at their peak. Side B’s plunge into the jungle of noise builds on the intense dissonance of Scratch Acid, Live Skull, and The Landlords’ own infamous spinoff duo, Happy Flowers, all the while remaining rooted in hardcore punk. No matter the style, all the tunes on Fitzgerald’s Paris are destined to delight America’s next generation of alienated youth, while infuriating school boards, police departments, and town councils everywhere. Packaging includes an 11"x22" insert containing lyrics, flyers, and unpublished photos plus a free MP3 download of bonus studio material and a live set recorded off the board at CBGB's in September 1985.- Format

Hey! It's a Teenage House Party!
[engl] The 1984 debut LP from The Landlords has long remained a cult favorite amongst punk+hardcore collectors and those local to the band's hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia. Formed in the Fall of 1983 through a chance encounter at WTJU, the University of Virginia's college radio station, The Landlords soon began practicing in the upper floor duplex apartment of bassist Eddie Jetlag, pissing off the landlord who lived downstairs, and thus earning their name. The Landlords' first show came only a couple of months later at the Plum's Lounge talent show, where the power was cut in the middle of their third song. Soon after, The Landlords became acquainted with the local punk scene in Charlottesville, playing frequently with Lackey Die and Beef People, and regional acts like Death Piggy and Scream. In March 1984, The Landlords headed up to Inner Ear Studios to record their debut LP with Don Zientara. Hey! It's A Teenage House Party! was released later that year on the band's own Catch Trout imprint. While the 21 song LP bears the same vibrant production as early DC hardcore releases, The Landlords' style and approach remains unique to this day. While a firmly-rooted hardcore punk record of the 1980's, tracks like "Nuns In Black Leather" (featuring guest vocals from Dave Smalley of D.Y.S. !), "Termination", and "Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God" hint at the dirgier, noise rock influenced direction the band would later move towards. Singer John Beers and guitarist Charlie Kramer would later go on to found the epic experimental duo, Happy Flowers. Hey! It's A Teenage House Party! has been remastered from the original reels for this reissue, limited to 400 copies. Packaged with a 12 page booklet featuring liner notes, never before seen photos of the band recording the album, and a spread of flyers + zine clippings, plus a digital download that includes 17 bonus tracks recorded just prior to the LP, a few of which never were re-recorded. A definitive edition of this highly underrated and essential document of early American hardcore punk.- Format

Amuo
[engl] Less than a year after their debut, Brazil’s Lasso returns with their second EP. While Lasso’s razor-sharp riffing and songwriting remain intact, this time around the sound is thicker and meaner, as if what was presaged in the first EP’s foreboding, ominous sound has finally come to pass. Indeed, as the world has slid into previously unthinkable depths of darkness and brutality, Lasso’s sound has evolved to match, a hard-won sense of steadiness now augmenting the anguish so palpable on their first record. Lasso also introduces a few new musical wrinkles here. A surf-y, Dead Kennedys-esque lead guitar elevates tracks like “Fechado Em Copas” and “Atarantado” to even higher levels of catchiness than their already-infectious debut, while “Mendaz” closes the record with an apocalyptic, mid-paced stomp. Desperate times call for desperate music, which makes Lasso the perfect soundtrack for 2022. Limited to 400 copies.- Format
