Nightmares in darkness
[engl] Another Finnish HC-classic released on ROR in 1984 and never reissued before that shows impressively why so many punx love Finnish HC worldwide! Comes with the poster-inlay which contains additional photos from Puntala-rock 1983 and lyrics! On the studio-side RIISTETYT sing in English which works surprisingly fine! On this LP the B-side is much better than on the original LP cause RIISTETYT play here much tighter, especially Piise's basslines are incredible! The sound-quality is also good! This is another Finnish HC-classic from 80ies!- Format

RISE AGAINST
Neben Textzeilen '' I have an american dream, but it involves black masks and gasoline'' gibts aber auch persoenliches. Obwohl 12 Songs auf dem Backcover angegeben sind, gibts noch einen alten Hardrock-Klassiker als hidden track.- Format

[engl] “In 2012, when we were getting ready to drop “Faith” (which turned out to be our final album), we wanted to get everything right. We were incredibly excited because the record had turned out exactly the way we wanted it to. […] To do it justice, it needed a fitting release show. So, we invited our friends in Iron Age and a mix of other bands we were into and got going. We practiced as often as we could and put together a set list that focused on “Faith”, but also included songs from our previous albums. The result is what you’re holding in your hands right now. If you couldn’t make it out to the show back then, here’s what it sounded like. If you were there with us, here’s your chance to relive that evening.” - Bjorn Dossche, Rise & Fall- Format

Ionsamfélagio Og Framtío Pess
[engl] Iðnsamfélagið Og Framtíð Þess which roughly translates to "Industry and its Future", is taking the oddity and isolationism of hardcore punk and industrial noise and smashing them even further together than they did on previous releases. This is the sound of a band perfecting its approach to the world. And we can't get enough. At first listen it is what seems to be a simple formula of bass, noise, drums and vocals but as you continue to listen, delicate layers of depression, life, anger, creativity, emergence and deconstruction begin to unfold until you find yourself trapped in a dystopian clamor void of hellish nothingness. Industry and its future indeed. 350 copies on black and 150 copies on translucent green 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with printed inner sleeve and download card included.- Format

Roht
[engl] Stomping isolationist noise punk with a raging undercurrent of industry and primitivism from Reykjavik. This new ep, their first, shows a much noisier and angrier side of what was once an industrial solo project. All sung in Icelandic. Along with Dauðyflin, these folks are fostering a cold hardcore outsider vibe in a place that has had a rich tradition of punk/pop that's not widely known for it. A truly exciting discovery. Never under estimate the remote reaches of our community, you'll be zapped every time. 500 copies of heavy duty lacquer mastered black vinyl and glued pocket sleeve with art by Þórir Georg sit inside a hand embossed sealed envelope. [engl] Coming in from California, ROLEX returns with their debut 7 inch offering now on 11 PM RECORDS. Vicious and untamed; Rolex has created a new breed of hardcore punk that is true to their LA roots, with influences from JFA and Mystic records; but contains the same poison that is behind DIE KRUZEN and CHEETAH CHROME MOTHERFUCKERS. ROLEX is far from your average mindless hardcore punk and brings in riffs and songwriting which owes as much to THE MINUTEMEN as it does surf rock; all with seething lyrics of vitriol and poetry. These ten tracks were previously released on 5 cassingles (R-O-L-E-X) and are now re-recorded and compiled on a 7 inch. ROLEX fuses art and hardcore together in a way not heard before and is truly worth a listen.- Format

American Tower
[engl] As a massive early Killed By Death style punk fanatic, constantly in pursuit of the ever elusive records and one-off-obscuro sound, I frequently turn up my nose at modern bands playing the style. You can't just crap out a poorly recorded generic riff punk track, slap a "KBD" label on it and expect me to fall for the ruse. I mean bands have done that and had varying degrees of wool pull - see The Uncalled 4's "Grind Her Up" 7" for the best success of this - but it doesn't usually work out. What I particularly enjoy about Rotary Club is that they rework the lyrics into all things landline telephone while heavily referencing the riffage from the genre's top tier tunes, twisting them just enough to make them their own. A refreshing and well executed take to say the least.- Format

Cacophony
[engl] Cacophony is the second Rudimentary Peni album. Released after the band returned from their first hiatus following a series of personal events that changed the band forever. The thirty track LP keeps turning heads 34 years after its release. Far from writing another “Death Church” the band embarked on a truly bizarre quest. To record an album based on the life and writings of horrors absolute king H.P. Lovecraft. A dense cacophony of total free songwriting. Dark, gothic, intricate, unexpected head-scratching punk. The short bursts of music twist and turn at every corner – the vocals are part classic Blinko and part spoken word, the guitar is full of distorted awkward tones and the every inventive bass and drums are locked together creating a truly unique album. Cacophony is the benchmark of outsider Punk and the influence and cult nature of this album grows with every passing year. This reissue stays close to the original version, with Nick Blinko’s incredible cover art, including a 11” x 11” 8-page lyric booklet.- Format

Death Church
[engl] The words legendary, seminal, and classic get thrown around at will these days, but Rudimentary Peni’s debut album is all of them. Recorded over two days at Southern Studios by John Loder and originally released in 1983 by Crass off-shoot label Corpus Christi, Death Church showed a band moving away from the urgency of their two early 7”s and into their own realm. Creating a template that bands have been trying to replicate ever since, while ticking all the boxes to become a genre-defining album. Iconic artwork, a unique sound and their own lyrical universe. All merging seamlessly. Sonically the album is full of Nick Blinko’s extraordinary vocals and equally remarkable guitar, Grant Matthews’ big meandering driving basslines and Jon Greville's tight and relentless drum work which together made something intricate and hard hitting, with a sequence that makes the 21 songs on the album flow perfectly. Visually, the album is every outsider art lover’s wet dream. A six-panel poster sleeve with every inch covered in Nick Blinko’s claustrophobic black and white line drawings, while lyrically the songs deal with madness, religion, death, and questioning humankind from a dark poetic place rarely found in any art form.- Format

Great War
[engl] Recorded several years ago before Rudimentary Peni engaged in another mysterious hiatus, Great War has finally emerged to kiss the gas-tinged light of a mustered morn. Expanding on the skeletal sounds and subject of 2009's “Wilfred Owen” single the band has seen fit to concentrate on a more mechanized approach doing away with even more of the humanizing aspects in their music this time delivering ten painful familiar shards fraught with brittle anxiety and anguished simplicity. Great War cements new phase in the ever-crawling metamorphic madness that is Rudimentary Peni. The record comes with brand new Nick Blinko Artwork on the sleeve and Inner Sleeve. (Jensen Ward) “Belfast” was originally released in 1987 on Vocalist Roy Wallace’s Belfast Records and has been out of print for 30 years. It was a compilation of previously released tracks and newly recorded versions of old tracks with Dino and Gary from D.I.R.T doing the female vocal parts and guitars. The 12 tracks on “Belfast” are nuggets of raging pissed off DIY anarcho punk with hard hitting lyrics and dual vocals. The recordings are raw and passionate and stand the test of time. The band released an iconic split 12” with STALAG 17 on Mortarhate (1985) – the tracks are included on “Belfast” and then the following year a split LP called We will be Free with STALAG 17 and ASYLUM before calling it a day and becoming a lost piece of the anarcho punk puzzle. This reissue comes with replica sleeve and fold-out lyric insert.- Format

S.H.I.T.
What do you Stand for?
[engl] A brief but dense dose of simply hulking intense turmoil. Subtle terminology is trite, so to get to the point: S.H.I.T., the LP, blurs by in under twenty minutes of thrashing hardcore gristle. Gone are the tell-tale training wheels of delayed vocals and endless layers of feedback, here now are the tighter louder songs we'd hoped S.H.I.T. would write. A piercing musical rallying cry for the listless and ever approaching bulldoze march of the future, wrapped in cellophane transfers of melted early hardcore and the best of the last decade's fresh take on simplicity and power. What do you Stand for? comes housed in a sleeve designed by legendary hc punk outsider and former S.H.I.T. designer, Jaybo. The intricately illustrated hellish image was produced with bleach onto a massive bedsheet, though the entire package is wrapped in a self censored outer sleeve, seemingly in the service of protecting the purchaser's dignity. Additional design by Ryan Tong.- Format

SABRE
s/t
[engl] Never change a winning team, so ETT is honoured to bring you the debut EP from Bay Areas finest UK 82 influenced supergroup SABRE. A strong brand of a sound between early UK punk-meets- early US hardcore. The members are known from their previous band like SYNTHETIC ID, NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE and COLD CIRCUITS and so the word supergroup makes totally sense. These guys play a thumping, tough as nails, stripped down and catchy as hell brand of classic 1-2, 1-2 UK82 inspired hardcore punk with bruising vocals, sharp guitar riffs and a rhythm section that sounds like it's done a pharmacy full of speed. Gritty and loud production elevates what could otherwise be doomed to dollar bin hell. Four songs of ripping punk created by some of the key members of the Bay Area punk scene. Staying away from the epic side of things, SABRE keeps their songs catchy and punk. No fakes on this platter just punks playing what they love. That says it all. No trend, no fashion, just pissed friends shreddin' fast and loud.- Format

Skillful Butchers
[engl] Skillful Butchers is the new album from New York City’s Scalple, their first for Sorry State. Since Scalple’s 2018 12” on Roach Leg Records, they’ve expanded to a five-piece and changed their sound, moving toward the thrash-and-mosh dynamics of late 80s UK hardcore bands like Heresy, Ripcord, and Concrete Sox. Those bands took their inspiration from early 80s US hardcore, and just as the sound changed when those bands carried it across the pond, Scalple infuses this style with the filth, grime, and frustration they soak up walking New York City’s streets. More than just a well-timed throwback, Skillful Butchers ups their inspirations’ ante in terms of intensity and precision, and adds new wrinkles like the blistering metallic lead guitars and the crunching industrial interludes courtesy Maggot Champagne, aka Pharmakon. However you categorize it, Skillful Butchers is a great hardcore record, packed with memorable songs and riffs destined to get the pit moving as the world remembers how to mosh.- Format

SCARLET LETTER
How Is Your Heart?
review by PNC Media: Scarlet Letter confuses me. There aren??t any good way to pin down this music into a genre or sub-genre even. This is complimentary of course, because you find yourself glued to the stereo, trying to find out how the hell they came up with that idea? Some songs have some of that good old thrash, others sound like Spazz. The thing is that the moment you think you have them figured out a great piece melody, or a totally unexpected break down comes prying at your head. The lyrics are well written and the liner notes helps explain the deeper intention instead of ruining your own interpretation. A really inspiring piece of work, this is good music in ugly packaging.- Format
