Timeless punk rock with a bit of garage without the stereotypes of the genre. Rightly praised in all fanzines at the time. Does not sound like Germany and that is soooo nice!

[engl] LA's BLAZING EYE return with two new tracks of devilish hardcore punk in the vein of MOBS or ZOUO. The Japanese hardcore influence is prevalent on "Brain" which has an infectious guitar riff- vocal scream dynamic punctuated by a perfect Bristol Beat which will have you screaming like a bloody mess without you even noticing. "Lonely Corpse" on the flip has a stomp dirgy beat perfect to dance like a worm on a devastated city ran by cyborgs. A perfect punk single with two really catchy and memorable songs which show BLAZING EYE at the top of their game.

[engl] Blazing Eye's most recent recording secures their place as one of Los Angeles's best hardcore-punk bands. Propagating punk as true and original as bands the likes of G.I.S.M. and Siege, Blazing Eye sets forth with their strongest release since their 2013 demo. It's a banger for sure and I'm happy that this record is finally a reality.

[engl] BLCKWVS developed their own style of instrumental music over the last couple years. From post-rock influenced delay driven guitar work to heavy, dirge and nihilistic sludge and doom infected bulldozer-rock. The 8 tracks on "0150" are really dark and heavy, somewhat reminiscent of really droney and heavy CULT OF LUNA and ISIS. Instead of altering heavy parts with quiet parts like the aforementioned bands, BLCKWVS decides to strictly play those dark and heavy riffs throughout the song. This really differs from the sound of lots of bands. While most of the common bands experiments with a more tribal and mythical approach, BLCKWVS have gone back to the heaviness. Their song writing feels more confident than ever, no longer consumed by the incessant need for growing crescendos in every song. As always, the production (recorded at the Tonmeisterei) feels spacious, but without any instruments feeling distant in the mix. The guitar sounds powerful yet hold an air of precision and the bass is given it’s biggest sound so far. Drums are relentless and never letting your attention waver. The synthesizer is impeccable, delicately adding another layer within the recording while still engaging it by developing melody and furthering atmosphere. Another innovation on "0150" are the 2 songs with vocals - let yourself be surprised. Bottom line: BLCKWVS creating a menacing wall of sound and "0150" is another exceptional recording from BLCKWVS and hopefully one of many to come. [engl] On this nice platter 2 friendly bands team up. The 7min. long track, by Austrian's post-hardcore trio I NOT DANCE is a small foretaste of the forthcoming full-length. Sounding intense and heavy as always they tried to expand their musical scope while still staying true to their original roots. Breaking with their own troubled past year I NOT DANCE, pays tribute to a close friend and processes his farewell. In any case, how the song came about shows that passion and cohesion always come first and their mates from BLCKWVS would probably agree. [engl] Blind To Faith are back with a merciless offering in the form of their new album "Unstoppable War”. Their most focused and savage release to date, the 9 songs on "Unstoppable War" mark a triumphant return to form for the hard hitting five piece. Their debut album "The Seven Fat Years are Over” (2009, Holy Terror) and relentless but sparse live shows instantly earned the band a cult following, establishing themselves as a premier metal/punk outfit, delivering a nonpareil brand of aggressive and heavy anti-music. Featuring members of Rise and Fall, Inhume, Reproach and Lifespite, Blind To Faith are veterans of the scene and have been blurring the lines between metal and punk since 2008 with menacing results. Recorded at Hearse and Overdose Audio in their two home countries (Belgium/The Netherlands) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon, the band has managed to perfectly capture the sound which embodies their hostile and relentless musical and lyrical style. While nothing has changed at the core of their sound, they have clearly pushed the songwriting envelope on Unstoppable War. It's an unsettling and bitter manifest of frustration and the endless fight for self-empowerment. And while the record is super focused and clearly showcasing the one track mind of songwriters Vince and Nabbe, the 9 songs all showcase a very varied array of influences from within the extreme music world. The full-on audio assault will certainly appeal to fans of Hellhammer, Discharge, GG Allin, Today Is The Day and Entombed to name but a few.

[engl] Blotter is everything you want from a modern day hardcore punk band. Over the past few years, Austin, TX has seen a resurgence in young, quality punk bands. Blotter is one of the top tier groups of this new school of Texas hardcore and Under Armour '77, their debut vinyl effort, stands as some of the best work this scene has produced. Primordial ooze USHC at its finest. Blotter is yet another new hardcore punk featuring members of Wiccans, Glue, Impalers and Creamers. Blotter delivers just brutal, stomping stuff with a perfect, early 80s-sounding 8-track production. This five piece band rages through five songs in a little over five minutes. Fast precise hard hitting drums, loud distorted guitar that flirts with chaotic, noisy feedback, compliment dynamic and aggressive vocals that have just the right amount of snot and grit. Their sound touches on classic 80’s hardcore, whilst paying no tribute to any other HC band I’ve listened to in the last few years. This is unique, this is weird, fucked up and awesome! No filler on this EP – it’s all legit. No nonsense Hardcore in 2014, go and get your copy. Fuck.

[engl] Blow Your Brains Out formed in 2019 with members of Stand United, Inside, Die Birth, Civil Defense and Soul Vice from Tokyo and Kanagawa. The band are all active members of their local hardcore communities whether it's putting on shows or running a popular radio show called Sick People. Hardcore fans were hyped for the demo with its instant hit mix of Cro-mags and Dynamo style influenced hardcore, and were excited to hear what the band would do next. However, as with all things at this time, they had to put everything on pause. Fast forward to 2023 and the band have recorded their debut 12” ‘The Big Escape’. This sees the band keep true to their demo influences but with greater flair, and will have you humming the tunes in no time at all. It was important for vocalist Kai to sing in Japanese, a language with a unique rhythm and flow that he wanted to match to the riffs, as well as to communicate about topics important to the local, as well as global community, using powerful Japanese words. ‘The Big Escape’ 12” talks about cult religions, political corruption, domestic violence, and companies that force people to work in poor conditions, as well as the suppression of citizens who resist authoritarian forces. I see through their lies and madness and act with the determination I have squeezed out, without succumbing to after-the-fact sophistry or threats. The underlying theme is the understanding that structural issues in society and politics cannot be easily solved, but it’s important to voice dissatisfaction and anger, and resist, and sometimes that’s by running away to survive, but it’s difficult to put this into practice in everyday life. However, there is hope that one day, the big escape will be achieved.

[engl] Back in 2010, Bog People were the band everyone was talking about. Speedy UK82 punk infused with heaps of chorus and fuzz with live shows that were psychotic and colorful fog machined melees. Word spread like wildfire. The demo was out and burning up every fuckin’ boombox in the country. And then a teaser split 7” came out that was just a couple tracks from the same demo session. People were frothing at the mouth for new recordings. And then, they vanished, back into the bog from whence they came. But not before tracking an LP. A doomed session that was deemed too “speedy” and therefore, abandoned. All kinds of rumors circulated: “Did they get abducted and mind erased?”, “Where is ‘the bog’ located and did they fall in?”, “Did they break up?”, “Did they get arrested?”…and we have been waiting ever since.

[engl] Back from the bowels of forced-shut-in sessions with their 2nd EP, BRAIN TOURNIQUET amplifies the frustration and bitterness of the all too familiar life pause that was 2020. Not that life is all that great in the first place. Senseless murder and hate surround everything. There is no freedom. There is pain. You know what would feel good right now? Throwing a brick through an actual person. We could laugh at all the parts that fall out and wash down the gutter. Now take all that violence and put it to grinding distortion. That is BRAIN TOURNIQUET. Hardcore, power violence, whatever you want to call it, it's angry.

[engl] Locktender from CLEVELAND, OH contain / reformed out of the ashes from “Men As Trees”. On this split 10" is one epic long heavy brutal hardcore song that expands over 10 minutes and just leave your ears bleeding and your mouth will be white open of disbelieve. Brighter Arrows from Chesterton, IN/Chicago, IL just continue the tradition of midwestern mid90ies emo w/ beautiful melodies, passionate lyrics and a lot of goosebumps. It reminds me a lot on bands like The Pine, Casket Lottery and a little bit of Mineral. Just beautiful. Two awesome songs. They also just released a a great 6 song ep The Ghost is Clear Records and Fair Weather Records.
